as you know btob's season greeting for 2018 comes with a board game in the box and that's also what makes it cost more than other cube artists' season greeting and honestly it'll be a waste if you can't play it because you don't understand what the instructions say. so!

i collaborated with @_jellymelody on twitter to make a website out of it! at first she posted the translations on gdocs and i, being the annoying how-could-i-make-this-interesting person, asked her if i could create a website for the translations and gladly, she agreed!

How to download ch+ videos and subs

um ok hi, so it’s exactly what the title says, i just want to share how to download ch+ videos and subs, and by download i mean save it to your pc by streaming it via vlc not by recording it. back then we still could use idm or downloadhelper to download it but until few weeks ago i think it stopped working, seemed like ch+ changed something in their back-end.

it might be a little bit complicated for some, so it’s your choice! NOT ANYMORE, it’s super easy now. i personally always use this trick because i use my laptop almost 24/7 so it’s really a bother if i have to record the screen and can’t do anything else.

let’s start! (good news, now comes with tutorial videos)

how to download ch+ videos

(lol sorry updated jun 2018! and more good news: it became A LOT easier!)

on your browser, in the ch+ page you want to download, do this:

right click on any empty space > inspect element > in inspector tab, search (ctrl+f) for “.mp4″ without the quotation marks > copy the link

the link should be something like this:

and then just paste it into a new tab > hit enter/go > right click on the video > save video as.. > rename the video as you want > and that’s it! lol no hassle like before thanks vlive

now you know it, but keep it for later.

for now, paste your link into the new tab to download the .m3u8 file.

the .m3u8 file you downloaded usually named after those random characters id. now open the file using notepad, or any text editor you have.

don’t panic, you might not understand what it says, just follow my instruction.

you’ll see a lot of

they are all a video chunk (there’ll be hundreds of it (from -000000 to idk it differs, for example for this video, the playlist has 791 chunks, so in this case i can find -000791.ts))

now you want to “download” the chunks, replace (ctrl+h) the random id

hls/ stands for “http live streaming”; it’s just a name for some method you don’t want to know, believe me

now paste your link into the new tab to download the .m3u8 file.

also you need the key! yup the “?__gda__=xxxx” one. and it’ll expired after some time i’m not really sure how long but probably around 2 hours (no actually i really don’t know lmao but one time my link was expired around that time). if the key has expired before your download is complete, then the download would fail. and you need to generate the new key by refreshing the ch+ page and back to the first step lol

ok so to append the key, replace (ctrl+h) all the

.ts

with .ts[+ your key]

now save it, and you’re good to go!

open vlc > media > convert/save > add your edited .m3u8 file > convert/save > choose destination file and name it > start

you’ll see the status is “Streaming”, just wait for it, it usually takes as long as the duration of the video you’re downloading (but again i’m not sure, it depends on how fast your internet connection is). if you want to check whether it’s really working, go to the destination folder, you’ll see an .mp4 file like how you named it, check the size, it’ll increase from time to time, do refresh your folder before you check. "how do we know if the download has completed?" the status on your vlc is no longer "Streaming" and you could see the thumbnail for the video in your destination folder (not only vlc icon like before).

note that you can’t use vlc for playing other videos when it’s streaming.

how to download ch+ subs

well for this one i’ve shared it on my twitter, but let me just.

on your browser, in the ch+ page you want to download, do this: 

right click on any empty space > inspect element > choose network tab > find .vtt file (the cause is xhr) > right click and choose copy response > paste it on your notepad or any text editor > save it as .vtt or .srt file

easy right?

if you can’t find the .vtt file, try to turn off the subtitle and turn it on again. the .vtt file should appear on the list after you do that.
