QUILTS OF GEES BEND

It is so impressive to see what the women of Gees Bend have made working in cultural isolation and poverty for nearly a century. The quilts function compositionally as well as any abstract painting even though the women thought they were just being resourceful with fabric scraps. We regularly look to these quilts for shape and color inspiration.
