I feel like one of the reasons why the US is Like That is the difference between countries and states. Because apparently when you're nominally still the same country, different states can pull absolute bullshit on each other that would not fly in relations between two countries.

Like if idk Belgium decided "hey we have this huge homelesness problem that we've been neglecting for decades while allowing it to get progressively worse, but we figured out how to fix it: we're loading all the homeless people onto buses and moving them across the border to France", the french response wouldn't just be "aw naw ugh I wish they couldn't do that :/"

It'd be "hey buddy that's really funny, do you want to see how fast we can get tanks on the streets of your capital?"

tried to explain to a white liberal that i felt weird seeing white people make racist sounding jokes about AI ("tin crow laws", "wirebacks/silverbacks", "my daughter better not come home with no god damn clanker") because of how ingrained it is into the "white" identity to incite genocide by inventing an outgroup, and how that's the only "white heritage" that exists because "whiteness" was invented 200 years ago from ideology.

i was told i was "flexing my history knowledge" for bringing this up, and then accused of promoting bioessentialism for saying racism defines white blood-- something objectively true, as "whiteness" cannot exist without an outgroup.

Western progressives will see a picture or video of a building in an Asian communist country and make up elaborate fantasies about how everything there is staged and fake and all the smiling people are either helpless fools held at gunpoint by their Oriental Despots or mindless slaves of the Asian Hivemind, musing about how these tribalist unfortunates must be liberated by Western benevolence or presenting their theses on why certain races are more prone to being corrupted or enslaved, before turning around and being like, "Hey, where'd all these Nazis in our government come from, anyway?
