one of my favorite fucking feelings in the world is when you’re having a discussion with somebody about literature and themes and storytelling and etc or even just like, your feelings, and as you’re rambling on about the interpretation of something-or-the-other you have this lightbulb moment where two ideas connect in your head all of a sudden and you couldn’t have done it without the context of another person there and you both get so excited about this new theory you’re developing
like. collaboration. trust. complexity. awakenings. this shit isn’t just analysis, it’s art.

being a self-taught artist with no formal training is having done art seriously since you were a young teenager and only finding out that you’re supposed to do warm up sketches every time you’re about to work on serious art when you’re fuckin twenty-five

Three-time World Taxidermy Champion Ken Walker recreating an extinct Irish elk using DNA studies and Paleolithic cave paintings for reference. Apparently this took 4 elk hides to make!
A book recommended by fieryflyingpanda (thanks!) that talks about this mount and others done by Ken Walker:

Totally just bought it for 4 bucks, and that’s including shipping! Maybe they’ll have info on the smilodon that he did too! I’ll let you guys know!

I've been reading the Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater and it is amazing. Combine that with my mild awe with tattoos, and you get a portion of Ronan's. It needs to be more Celtic and complicated and Ronan, but I thought it was decent for a fraction of his himness.

i wish there wasn’t such a stigma around being proved wrong, bc it’s a part of life, no one can be right all the time. if we didn’t feel as much shame about it i think a lot of things would change a lot faster

A Pet Peeve
“Its a Native American tradition”
… what? Is the tradition: Cherokee, Yakama, Cree, Lakota, Pocumtuc, Wampagnoag, Cheyenne, Choctaw, Apache, Eskimo, Hawaiian and so on.
If you are speaking of “Native American” as strictly cultures in the US (because some countries use other terms), what about the natives in US territories. Such as the Chamorro in Guam. You cannot seriously think the natives of Guam have the same culture as the Nipmuc people native to the US Northeast.
▪️
It would be like saying “Oh this one specific thing is and Asian tradition.” No thats not how this works. Is the tradition: Japanese, Ryukyuan, Khmer, Mongolian, Han, Hui, Viet, Uzbek, Tibetan, Nepalese, Laotian, Iranian, and so on.
▪️
Or “Its a European tradition!” Which? Is it Italian, English, Latvian, Russian, Bretons, Faroese, Basques, Frisians, French, German, Cornish, and so on.
▪️
I can go on with so many more examples.
“European” is not a specific cultural tradition, “Asian” is not a specific cultural tradition. Neither is Native American. It is that attitude that makes everyone think feather war bonnets are used by all Native American cultures when thats just not true.
Whatever you are talking about, its not a “Native American tradition” it is a “Lakota tradition,” or a “Iroquios tradition” which in turn could be more sepcifically a “Mohawk or Seneca tradition.” And if you didn’t know that both Mohawk and Seneca were part of the Iroquios Confederacy / Nations maybe don’t talk about their traditions. If you don’t know which Native American culture the thing you are talking about comes from, maybe don’t talk about it.
▪️
It bothers me so much. Stop erasing distinct cultures. … this rant has been brought to you by my annoyance at an ASMR video ….. and it being 1am at the time of writing.

ATTENTION PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, I think i have it now and i appreciate it.
I’ve just made a bet against my Dad that if this post gets 2 million notes then i can get a Puppy. [like the one underneath]
Tumblr media
I didn’t realise how much 2 million was and i couldn’t take that number down now. It should look like 2,000,000 in the notes bar.
He’s convinced that this will never reach that number, and very confident about it so Let’s prove him wrong!! He thinks this will get about 25 notes beofre it’s left in the dust.
You don’t have to do it for me. But for the point and to prove him wrong. He has to pay and everything so let’s make him suffer with it!!
I’m counting on you!!!
Remember it’s 2,000,000!
