it's weird to approach people that are playing a canon character and be like "hey can you play someone else?" don't do dat.

why do growth/weight gain fetishists try to sneak their kinks into fucking everything even when you deliberately tell them no. And they try to "no actually I'm just looking for a little bit of growth and getting bigger!" they're like the WORST for trying to push you into kinks you don't like.

Lmao. Lol even. I'm fucking speechless and don't even know what to say.
genuinely the funniest (derogatory) thing in the rp community rn is the cherp staff going "yeah thell lied about the police raids and the no exchanging discords rule is unnecessary and we're getting rid of it once we're done rewriting the site"
... and then keeping people banned for it and continuing to ban people for it. what the fuck LOL

it's always the bitches with the weirdly dark high contrast in lines/icons with scan line effects and one pixel wide borders.
"i only do multipara so low effort players fuck off!!"
You couldn't be asked to fill out your kinklist.
Your profile is just a fancy inline and an empty dropdown menu.
There is no information about how you portray the character.
There is no information about what you don't want to see.
Your customs were obviously copied wholesale from another character.
You couldn't even be bothered to minimally edit them to reflect the name/species/gender/occupation of your new character.
baby you are the low effort player in the room.

As someone who plays both canon and OCs the problem goes both ways. My character is a deep sea creature that isn't set in any particular universe, with the twist that it's not from the deep seas of earth but from Neptune (a fact even he doesn't realize because all he knows is he lived in the deep ocean before being taken by scientists from his home.)
But a DC character "guessed" (read: metaed) that he must not be from this earth because he'd never heard of Aquaman... This was not a DC based room.
People have no fucking RP etiquette anymore. The metagaming of recent OCs is getting really annoying as a canon player.
There is no reason why your OC should be casually rattling off intimate details of my canon's life. There is no world in which they are privy to that information. I don't care if "he's a cartoon in my universe":

AI art is lazy, personally if someone was using it, I’d want nothing to do with them (morals and all that) but also like, the programs can’t do eyes or hands well, I’d spend all my energy trying to figure out what was intentional with the program and what wasn’t. And then so much of it suffers from same face syndrome and irregular style patterns.
I think people putting it in their nos would also just like, use AI writing too, and if I wanted to write with a robot I would go to an AI site myself.
I don’t trust people that use AI, given the ethical concerns, and I definitely don’t really see them as being someone who would actually put effort into the roleplay. Like, I would rather have no reference to having been given AI art as a ref.
It’s just experience that people who use AI art refs tend to be lazy with roleplay. If you have AI Art Hate in your nos, I’m going to assume that I won’t have an enjoyable time roleplaying with you. Even if you weren’t lazy, I’d probably get annoyed on the ethical stuff alone and drop the partner.
Definitely agree with a lot of sentimental here. One guy who had a bunch of AI art refs in his gallery kept saying he was bad at writing a part of roleplay that is often very desirable for the other person, and I asked him why he doesn't just practice. He said he has no partners to practice with. I pointed out that the reason he has no consistent partners is likely because of this. Why doesn't he just try writing his own prose or fanfiction?
He said it felt like that would be like playing tennis by yourself.
Was a really weird interaction but it feels like not only are these people typically lazy, they just don't believe in creating for the sake of creating. It's sad.
Also as an artist myself I would much rather someone see my art and be inspired enough to use it as a ref for their own character, then for it to be cut up into pieces and rearranged into a bunch of AI images. Im not super jazzed to see my images used in ways I didn't intend (someone used a picture I made of Harley Quinn, took advantage of the fact my characters tend to have babyfaces, and cropped her face out to use as a ref for a "Loli Harley" and I got it taken down.) but I still prefer that to my art being used for AI "learning."

Personally for me I just don't like looking at AI art. I have other things I don't like about AI but I also recognize that hobbyists aren't doing the harm that big companies do.
I also just dont like it so I'd rather not play with people who use it. Same as I'd rather not play with furries or people that use photographic images. It's a personal preference.
What do we think about "AI Art Hate" being in nos? Is that anything?

What was everyone's favourite AU in the hay days of Homestuck? I was quite partial to runawaystuck but I also liked the art that came out of wingstuck a lot.
#mxrp#cherp#we lost something as a fandom when we stopped doing elaborate fandom wide aus that is had basically their own fan communities

If someone "murrs" (even when they're playing a human) at me it triggers my fight or flight response.
Having been there myself, this is a pretty respectable no. But also, knowing this guy was using Gaia at the same time I was is giving me the weirdest feeling.

I'm bringing this back because what people are saying when they say that fiction affects reality to the point it turns shotacons/lolicons into pedophiles (or that because they enjoy shota/Loli it's evidence they are already pedophiles) isn't that it doesn't happen to raceplayers. Their argument is that racism is okay. They are saying it's okay for people to be racist if they are getting off to it. As long as they're not pedophiles, they're allowed to be racist pigs. In case it wasn't clear. They're admitting that they're okay with Steve being racist. (This doesn't mean Steve is nessacarily racist, just that by their logic he has to be, and they don't have a problem with it.)

Been thinking about it a while and I came up with an actual solution for mxrp/cherp/dreambubble and other small hobby sites and how to get around people ban evading, and maybe loosen up on some of the more intense rules. It's actually a method used by a lot of smaller sites.
limit account creation.
There are a few ways to do this. You could make account creation invite-only. Someone that already has an account gets a couple of invite codes on a limited basis. Maybe one a month or ten a year or something. This number could easily be determined by looking at statistics of the website I don't personally have access to. You could have spurts of open account creation where someone makes an announcement, and anyone can make an account for a limited time. And, of course, you can tie account creation to patreon or stripe.
In my personal opinion, the best option would be a mix of account invitation codes and patreon invites. I feel like this would be a healthy mix and would prevent people from ban evading and discourage rulebreaking. It's a pretty good solution that a few sites use. Everyone that already has an account would get to keep it and I would maybe, if I was considering taking steps to loosen other rules like what kind of content is allowed and taking rp off-site, implement that in different stages, a couple months down the line instead of doing it all at once.
I feel like for websites that are too small to implement more sophisticated security measures this is a great alternative.
#cherp#mxrp#of course if the point of banning certain content is because its yucky and its not in fact about protection#then that part doesn't matter#but it is still an option to consider for the ban evasion and anti rulebreaking benefit#not to mention enabling people to take rp off site
