As many of you are likely aware, my housing situation hasn't been very stable. I've moved (temporarily) to a place out in the woods with my mother after my lease ended a couple months ago. The plan was to spend a while here, save up our money, and get ourselves a place somewhere in the Greater Toronto Area.

It turns out this might have been a mistake. Our food gets stolen. Our landlord causes arguments, constantly finds reasons to complain, and it often times leads to shouting and threats of eviction if she doesn't get her way.

We're close to securing a place for ourselves before it can come to that, but we need some financial help to get there. First and Last month's rent payment for a new place is out of our reach, and we also need to buy furniture, dishes, utensils, and various other necessities once we do move.

Do note, however, that my situation does not jeopardize the beta in any way. It's not hosted on my hardware, and will continue to run regardless so long as the server bill is payed. The only impact it may have is in the frequency of updates.

I always love the paragraph of justifications that come before someone outlines what they're looking for on Cherp. "I don't condone this irl I just like messed up power dynamics this is obviously very very wrong blah blah blah etc" like shut UP it's literally fictional. We know. You are very sorry you like fictional content and you now have moral permission to RP guilt free, because you acknowledged that this fiction is Bad and would not be OK if it were not fiction. Does that help? Can you move on, pure of soul, and RP these characters having weird sex now?

if i had a nickel for every time one of my partners asked if we could move to discord because it would make it 'easier', they create a whole server with like 20+ channels but we only ever use 1, and they disappear after like 3 more responses i would have 2 nickels.

which isn't a lot, but it's weird (and frustrating) that it's happened twice.

I want to say up front that the following is an entirely personal complaint, and that I encourage people to roleplay whatever they want and have whatever headcanons they enjoy! This isn't meant to shame anyone, it's just a bit of venting.

I'm pretty flexible in terms of who I roleplay and I'll switch depending on who there seems to be fewer of; this has lead to me playing a lot of John lately. I recognize that Bro was canonically abusive, but I got into the fandom back in the time when he was considered a pretty great brother if a very weird one, and I miss the days that was a more common interpretation because it can get very tiring to rp with Daves who are actively being abused. I'll rock up ready to be a mischievously evil demon who'll fuck Dave up severely, then he mentions his brother torturing him for fun and I wind up having to extract him from his abusive home life instead. Again, people can rp whatever they want and I do not want to stop them, it's just that this headcanon isn't one that I personally enjoy.

So, taking responsibility for my own preferences, I decided to swap over to Dave instead– there are more of them, so I'd get less hits, but it would be easier for all involved. When I'm playing Dave, I get to decide what his home life is like, and thus I neatly avoid the issue!

The problem being that I then immediately started getting nothing but Johns that assumed my Dave is being abused and/or told me that their Dad is abusing them, and then I contemplated taking a vow of silence and running off into the woods forever. I am trying to be responsible and curate my own experience over here! Why is this so difficult!

Anyway, as I said, this isn't meant as a criticism of any of the fine folks I've roleplayed with, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with these tropes and headcanons! I'm simply relating that, like sisyphus, I yearn for the day I may stop pushing this bolder up a hill and finally have a roleplay where John and Dave both have healthy home lives and can focus on trying to beat each other to death because they're rival mafia bosses or something. Peace and love on planet earth.

this is actually a pretty reasonable complaint anon! you put it a lot more eloquently than i could, but i'd like to add that i wish people would do ooc check-ins before they go that route with the rp. if i'm playing a character that has a canonically angsty situation (like dave) or if i want to take a darker turn mid-rp, i always check with my partner first to make sure they're cool with it before bringing it into the mix. it's a basic courtesy imo because some people might be uncomfortable/triggered by those plotlines, and other people might just be looking for lighthearted rps and don't want to include heavy topics!

the abusive home life savior plots are fun every now and then when i'm in the mood for them, but they DO get a bit redundant- i understand that sometimes it's just a part of canon, so mentions/references are always fine for me personally, but i think it's best to ask before making it a major theme for the rp

THE PEOPLE YEARN FOR SURVEY RESULTS - NEW QUESTIONS

See the above post for results that can be directly compared to last year's questions.

Verification status preferences - most people do not care, but basically nobody prefers unverified users except for an extremely small sliver.

User satisfaction - 79% of people fall under the "good site" category, and the remaining 21% are "bad site". These are significantly better numbers than I anticipated.

The two most popular policy changes are "getting more users" and "removal of the forced anonymity rule". People are also interested in a more trustworthy verification process, more community events, and a general rules overhaul to make them less confusing.

Thankfully, I can inform you that all of these policy changes will be implemented with the release of Cardinal (NOT A MOMENT BEFOREHAND, PLEASE DON'T START WILDLY GIVING PEOPLE YOUR DISCORDS). Well, I can't guarantee more users, but we plan on beginning advertisement campaigns on other platforms and those will hopefully help to increase site population.

The highest priorities for "new features" are as follows:

Return of online/typing indicators (We do not plan on implementing this, sorry!) Ability to more easily see prompt information from inside a chat Push notifications User blocking Matchmaking system Improved sorting

Middle of the road stuff for people include:

Streamlined prompt/directory UI Password resetting Gamification systems Non-broken group chats

Lesser priorities include:

Non-broken dice Alteration/removal of the existing bump timer system Lucky Dip 2FA Easier ad servicing

Judging by these results I think most people will be extremely satisfied with some of the changes we have planned for Cardinal, although I'd like to keep it a surprise so we all have that fun moment of discovery together when the time comes.

Filters/Tags - The filters and tags on MXRP include your blacklist and your character search filters, which are the little checkboxes allowing you to search for or exclude specific characters. Between these two tools, you’re expected to be able to curate your own site experience. Use the filters. Tag your character appropriately.

Filter evasion/filter skipping - Intentionally changing your modifier in order to avoid being blacklisted by other users

Idk why people can't just say something casual to open on mxrp. People say the "Hey what's up" start is boring but like. Maybe you're boring? Give an interesting answer. My favorite thing is when m/c gives an answer that is interesting and could easily launch the rp if the person would just ask one single fucking question about anything I say but they ignore it. Like "oh I just got home actually!" "Cool." God I hate it. Wtf am I supposed to say to just "cool." It's like you don't even want to rp. Ask m/c where they were. Boom. Rp started. The most basic concept of any improv ever is asking questions and doing "yes, and".

My other favorite thing is when m/c asks what the other is doing and they're like "I'm sooo bored." Idk seems dead in the cradle to me. Seems like you're the boring one if you're starting an rp with "I'm bored" like holy shit be interesting then. Have even a drop of creativity or motivation. I message first in every chat and I carry nearly every chat on my back with partners who contribute nearly nothing. Which is only because if I don't, then I get zero rps. This goes for people who can't add interesting details if their life depended on it on cherp.

i’ll be so for real i don’t use cherp unless i’m in a dire situation of rp desperation. it’s a last resort, and usually a waste of energy for me bc i have moved on from naruto to a fandom with somehow even less of an rp presence despite it being one of the most popular games ever released in it’s genre. but that’s not really cherps fault. my current cherp gripe is once again the tagging system. i’m sorry but i do think it knocks down peoples chances of getting connects when they have to add 8 scary tags to their prompt for vague mentions of things existing in the backstory of a character, which IS a very different from having the tag actually featured in the rp. it’s also just……. nsfwe does not mean anything anymore. i feel bad for ppl looking for actual nsfwe content while the tag is filled with completely normal prompts that are just there bc someone has a tragic backstory.

it’s also useless to me for actually blacklisting content i don’t want to see. like “abuse” is tagged for rps that actively feature abuse or want to rp an abusive dynamic, but also ones that just have it in the backstory or otherwise in the background. i’m fine with the latter, and i’m not fine with like, rping an abusive dynamic. but i’m fine with it being featured in the rp in other aspects or as a background element. so blacklisting the tag is not helpful bc it also blacklists prompts i might want and would not be upsetting to me. but also i have to wade through shit i don’t want to see. and likewise, actual nsfwe rpers have to wade through a bunch of irrelevant normal shit. it’s just not very effective and i feel like there should be tags that differentiate the level of how those red tags actually exist in the rp.
