. . A blank white space. A huge lettered board. Loneliness. It can't be. I am not lonely. I have a lot of friends. "Do you?" A shimmering form "Do you have any friends?" I screamed. I do. I really do. I showed him my Facebook. My Instagram and my Twitter. Likes, comments, replies and follows. My chat histories. The form looked a lot like me now. "Wish they were real." I stammered. They are. "Welcome to reality" I woke up in my room. Tick of clock filling the room. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Happy Birthday. A lot of beeps. A ton of notifications. Not from humans, but from the apps they made. I waited. I kept waiting. Not one call. Not one genuine wish. Not one photo. Just a lot of empty messages So this is loneliness. . Us writers hide the truth behind it. We make it sound beautiful and heavenly. We mask it with sugar and make it sound sweet. So that our readers don't feel the reality of it. The truth of love in this era. We give it a feel, yet we really don't know what it is. We write down many stories, yet we never experienced one. Great scriptwriters engraved their amazing works in many minds. Some watch their works, over and over again, in hope to see it happen to them. A love story is what people want to read. It's what they want to watch. It's filled with energy, excitement and 'awwwwww', whatever that is. Maybe it's overthinking. Maybe it's just me. But to be honest and real. True love is confined with fairy tales and cheesy movies. True love exists only within the person who provided for and moulded our minds to be a better human. . . . The streets bustling with people. Cars moving in order. She walked peacefully. No fear in her heart. An ankle level skirt. A loose baggy shirt. No one complained. No one judged. The dark no longer scared her. Her brothers around her, looked after her at night. They dropped her to her home safe and sound. She played and laughed with them. They accepted her willingly. No judgemental eyes caught her that time. Her work was brilliant. She was always praised for. Her pay was amazing. So were her people. They wanted to work with her for the brilliant ideas she made not for the body she had. Her parents were proud for her working daughter. Her husband stayed at home. Two kids by his side. . . I loved her face from the day we met. Her smile killed me. Her eyes held me. She wasn't hot. She wasn't sexy. She was beautiful. Something heavenly. I cursed myself for prolonged staring. A tiny fear of being a creep. I tried to pull my eyes away from her. My heart didn't let go of her. I swore myself not to mess it up. The heart kept banging against the walls. Calling out for the freedom it saw. Calling out for the beauty it loved. I talked to her everyday. Made her laugh everyday. Made her smile everyday. Or I did. I never knew till the last day. I gathered up my strength. My friends support. A powerful aura. A confident look. I told her everything. My greatest desires. A harsh no. And end to it all. The deep pain. The utter sadness. Fear of God was her reason. I began to lose faith in it. A mindless idiot's made up image. As I lost my greatest gifts, a brother of mine showed me truths. The love I had never laughed. She tolerated my presence. Unwillingly. The humans are difficult. My brain processed. Rejections are hard. My heart processed. I promised everyone I will be fine. The crushing pain hits me everytime. The memory of her never wiped off. Her smile never faded off. She was happy without me. And here I was an unwanted pain. I kept myself in other works. Fooled my heart to being busy. It was broken. . . Our Indian system has grown blind towards the education to such an extent they postponed an important exam to three weeks from its date. They chose their so called democratic elections over the education of thousands of students under the KTU system. It has become so common in Kerala that we don't even notice the problems because of it. Instead of going against such atrocities, we run behind which minister made which minister cry. This is why our system is failing. We, the people, don't act and the power crazed politicians run around and bug for votes. If the elections had some worth or value in going to, then pushing away the exams would have been worth it. But the people who stand for it run behind the power what the seats give, not because of their dedication to people. It's not that we don't understand it. It's that we accept it. His readiness was refreshing. His aura was strong. He gained the respect and rep in a very short time. The smile never left all day long. The tiring day came to an end.
