One of the (very few) healthy things about the Gang's dynamic is that they let each other be silly and play. Encourage it, even. Frank and Charlie play an imagination-based worm game all the time. Even when Dennis is really upset, he tells Frank yeah, being a man-cheetah is pretty cool and he does want to get in on that. Mac sees Charlie do a silly-looking dance routine he made up in 8th grade and calls it beautiful. The bit at the end of "The Gang Exploits the Mortgage Crisis" where they're in the pool, and Dee gleefully pushes Mac over.

It just makes me happy to see them be silly together.

some of my favorite sunny moments are when they subtly acknowledge charlie’s tininess. like it’s never the focus of a scene but it’s always super cute lol some examples:

when mac and dennis taunt with him the basketball piggy in the middle style and call him a munchkin

“i love that little man” (classic)

dennis and dee’s pop-pop confusing him with dennis and saying “you’re a lot shorter than i thought you’d wind up”

in the hundred dollar baby ep when that guy they beat up calls him dee’s “little boyfriend”

also in that ep when dennis picks him up + the woods ep when ryan howard picks him up

the layers of dee saying “it’s improbable that frank is mine and dennis’s dad bc he’s 4′10” and in that same ep we find out he might be charlie’s dad

when the waitress and mac are disguising themselves as charlie and dennis and she says “i’ll be charlie cause he’s kinda my height”

the perfect casting of kiddie mac and kiddie charlie in the christmas special where the actor for charlie is a lot shorter

when mac got fat and charlie’s immediate reaction is “is that your shirt or my shirt? that’s like way too small for you”

in the charlie work ep when he needs dee to reach for the detector in the basement

when frank is with the substitute gang in the misses the boat ep and he says to one of them “you’re charlie! …nah you’re too tall”

so yeah. little man.. pocket sized
