for my final animation, I warped and changed the shape of the water through the animation creating a more realistic sense and feeling of water while also giving allot more character to the organic water shape. I have given the surfers movement in the same direction of the waves linking them further and also suggesting the actual act of surfing. I contrasted the movement of certain objects with others so there is no overall direction to the animation but rather a sense of stimulating constant movement. The surfers fade in after the water shaped to give them a sense of power and show that we have no control over the ocean but rather it is the ocean controlling us.

I chose to explore surfing as a celebration of the ocean, my aim was to communicate the more than physical connection I feel with the ocean while surfing.
I wanted to show my relationship with water and the beautiful, intricate personality of water that is experienced in the action of surfing.
One unique trait of water is its constant movent and fluctuation without a sense of direction, I have captured that through the visual flow of the piece while still obtaining a clear overall balance. the contrast in colors line and direction create depth and personality. Each wave is a similar shape just warped rotated or scaled which smoothly draws your eye through the body of water while making the shape one. the in context photos contrast in terms of shape color but link through direction and flow, this represents the relationship between ocean and person and how through the action of surfing you can become one with the ocean.

this animation is fluid and effective in giving the ocean personality and meaning as well as showing the connection between the ocean and the person through the surfboard, but it's not personal to me, I want to create a collage and animation that doesn't just represent the celibration of the ocean through surfing but my personal experience of this, I could do this by incorporating photos of me and my mates surfing into the college.

this warping of the water created a more fluid moving animation but there is still something missing

use repetition direction and scale to create movement and drama, the 3 different sized water circles represent the energy and moment of water, while the colored direction lines represent the feeling and connecting between the person and water.

in this collage I was trying to give water a personality and create a physical shape which didn't have one particular direction but gave the sense of flow and energy while still being very balanced. I tried to show people and events interacting within this scene to show how the water gives life and the interaction between this life force that is water and people/surfboard. from my feedback, I received in class this collage effectively shows the movement and energy of water and the expe3rince of that while surfing, even to people who have never experienced surfing before. i am yet to put in relevant photos of me instead of “random modles”

in this college, I was mainly focused on showing how I feel a spiritual connection to water and surfing, and how that has become such a big part of who I am, blurring the lines of when water is me and when I am water. I used contrasting colors and textures of the water and skin to show the different similar properties of these things and make them recognizable and clear, leaving tons of negative space around my image to make my idea even clearer and enhancing that peacefulness feeling of water. the water balances complement and compleats the face to form one shape linking them together. the rhythm of the spiral helps create upwards movement and a sense of happiness or completeness while also staying true to the movement and energy of water. I have used scale to create a scene inside this person to try to create the overall feeling of surfing rather than allowing you to focus on each individual surfer.
the feedback I got for this college was that it wasn't as well read it conceptually shows my interaction with surfing and water but it wasn't as stimulating as some of my other ones and doesn't create as much of a clear feeling about what surfing is. I also needed to make the connection to me clearer my using an actual photo of me rather than a model.
