according to my grandma, we have a “weird” side of the family and a “normal” side.

I’m not really sure where our current group falls (maybe we’re the combination), but this is a story from the “normal side”.

When my grandma was young, one day her uncle who had been staying with his children woke up, had his breakfast, walked over to sit in his chair, and died.

Her cousins, p understandably really, didn’t know what to do. Like. Honestly what’s the first step when your aging father dies in a chair? Cover him in a sheet?

So they cover him with a sheet.

I think they must have stumbled a bit on step 2, because what they do is call the entire extended family to their house without telling them what was going on.

The entire extended family.

Bundled together in a small house.

A house that, to no one’s knowledge, contains their dead uncle on a chair with a sheet thrown over him.
