The portrayal of white people who have been violently separated from their own culture stealing the power of black culture and music to try to get reconnected was SO literal and somehow not at ALL heavy-handed or trite. Fkn remarkable.

The Whys?
Why did the dish Carmy made with the blood orange (against the mean chef’s wishes) have to be the one Sydney tasted that made her become starstruck? Why did the scenes with him kissing Claire shift to his science with Syd in the kitchen??? Why did S3E1 waste time as an extended reflection on Carmy’s past? It had already been established the last 2 seasons. 😒

In July, I will return to the wonderful world 🤩 of classroom teaching as a 4th grade teacher. The last 4 years I've been either a teacher of multilingual learners or an instructional coach. Over the years, I've culled my teacher arsenal. If you know a teacher, you know we have enough "stuff" to start a small city. Please help amass the items I'll need to support each and every student in my classroom to become learners and leaders. The link to my Amazon Wishlist is here: https://tinyurl.com/MJenkinsWishList
The majority of the items are books. I've also added some STEM maker materials. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If you are so inclined, please post on your FB page or send to any philanthropic-minded individuals. Thanks in advance for your support!🤩🙏

I’m an Instructional Coach in elementary school. Part of my job is helping teachers improve their professional practice. I worked with a teacher who wanted help with classroom management. I taught several lessons last semester to show her some strategies. I would tell students to have a sense of urgency during transitions from one activity to the next or when moving from place to place. I would say, “SOU”. The teacher really liked it and used it. Notice what she hung in the classroom at the top. I used this phrase before watching The Bear, but it had a special resonance with me after.

I walked 1.5 miles home last night, from Carroll Street Cafe to Old Fourth Ward, and didn't pass a single other pedestrian.
Which was a bit sad, so I appreciated every happy thing I saw on the way: MARTA trains passing overhead on the elevated tracks; colorful paintings on the walls of Boulevard; a glimpse of an apartment window where people were having dinner inside...
But the best part was walking north on Boulevard and seeing the warm lights of Church on Edgewood up ahead. I had to stop and take a photo. It was a happy scene.
