Updated proposal and action plan (6/8/2019)
The project proposal and its action plan were updated to further fit in to the tasks and timeline that I have experienced throughout the entire learning journey.
Some tasks were edited to match what I actually did instead. The 2-week delay in the June period was mentioned in the action plan, with the modified planning afterwards to accommodate the lost time.

Fourth Edition of the NDC script (5/8/2019)
Screenshot of the fourth edition of the NDC script:
The fourth edition of the script was co-edited with the artistic director of the concert after realising that the transitioning between different performing groups item was far too short at some actor scenes.
Hence, these scenes were lengthened to potentially solve the problem of the short transition by adding more lines for the actors.

Monitoring Log 8 (7/8/2019)
Key points discussed with my advisor:
What to expect for the reflective interview:
Questions from both the interviewer and my advisor
Need to explain briefly, and with detail what my project is all about
Preferably using presentation slides to demonstrate what my project is all about, but keep it paraphrased
What should I do to display my learning evidences:
Prepare the e-portfolio before the interview
Plan to show which exact evidences do I want to show during the interview, explain in detail what are these evidences of learning all about
What I must produce for next session:
Presentation slides to be used for the oral interview
Completed E-portfolio, that is to be used for the oral interview
Reflection on my learning progress so far (what went well, what didn’t go well, what do I need to improve on)
Everything was largely prepared for the interview, with some minor changes to the E-Portfolio evidences of learning names in order to make it sound more original and attractive
Slides needed to be paraphrased to make it less wordy for the interviewer to read, nonetheless the content was overall neatly arranged for presentation

Updated actor blockings (6/8/2019)

These are the new actor blockings of the National Day Concert, it was edited to suit in the stage area and the transitioning of each other performing item.
This version was finally settled on the 6th of August, with the actors saying their lines before they come onto the stage and to their own blockings.
Many of these changes over the past 1 month have affected the actors considerably, but nonetheless, the actors were adaptable to these changes mostly.

Monitoring log 7 (5/8/2019, after the session)
Key points discussed:
Review of today’s session:
Actors made some blocking mistakes
Some actors also stumbled on the lines
Some actors missed out an important line for sound cue
Actors energy was rather low for a performance
What do I need to prepare for next consultation and reflective meeting:
Set up slides for the reflective meeting
E-Portfolio done, with a reflection on the overall experience
What I must produce for next session:
Slides for reflective meeting
E-Portfolio curated with the tasks complete
Reflection on my learning progress so far (what went well, what didn’t go well, what do I need to improve on)
· As it was a rather rushed consultation, it was more on monitoring and reflecting what went wrong with today’s session
· Nonetheless, many notes were taken down that can make future sessions in TCC better
· And in turn, it might make the concert spot-on during show day

Monitoring log 6 (5/8/2019, before the session)
Key points discussed:
E-Portfolio curation (using Tumblr and Google Drive):
Good template and sorting of tasks completed
Change up the consultation logs inside to fit in the E-Portfolio
Add in more images and videos to display evidences of learning
Complete the missing tasks in the E-Portfolio
What is today’s rehearsal in Temasek Convention Centre / TCC all about:
Transition run, so that actors can be familiar with their entrances, exits, and sound cues
Full run to get a rough idea what the flow should be, and identify flow or transition problems from there
What I must produce for next session:
Review of today’s session in TCC
What can the actors improve in their scenes
What went wrong during the session
Reflection on my learning progress so far (what went well, what didn’t go well, what do I need to improve on)
Everything was largely prepared for this consultation, with the E-Portfolio already set up
I have an idea of what to look out for in today’s session in TCC
However, I planned these consultations out rather last minute
Hence, consultation 6 and 7 has to be conducted on the same days

Monday transition + full run (5/8/2019)

These photos are from the Monday’s session with the other groups, as seen in the final photo that every performing group is involved.
As the actors still face some problems with the stormy scene (scene 5), I had to observe them carefully and spot their mistakes, and what can be improved thereon.

First video of actors in TCC (31/7/2019)
Screenshot from the video:
This video is the second time the actors are rehearsing in Temasek Convention Centre. The scene in this video that the actors are performing is the beginning scene, most of their performing areas were changed to accommodate scene transitions for other groups. However, scene 1′s performing area was still the same.

First time the actors rehearsing in Temasek Convention Centre (26/7/2019)
This image is the actors first time in Temasek Convention Centre, or TCC, rehearsing the National Day Concert. I contacted my counterparts in DMPC to allow us to use the space so that the actors can get used to their actual performance stage. Also, DMPC was required to conduct a microphone testing so to prepare them for the official combined rehearsals with other groups on that next Friday.

Videos of rehearsals after preview (19/7/2019)
Screenshots from both videos:
As scene 5 was highlighted by the artistic director of National Day Concert to be a bit problematic. Hence, I took in the feedback and adjusted the scene accordingly that the actors have to sway during a stormy scene.
Below are 2 videos to show their practice on swaying on-board. The first video is less coordinated than the second one in terms of synchronised swaying, however the second one features them falling to the ground. The end result was a combination of both, where there is coordinated swaying, yet no actors are to fall on the ground.

Video of rehearsals (5/7/2019)
Screenshots from the two videos:
These two videos in the link are short snippets of the earliest rehearsals of National Day Concert inside the Black Box Theatre. The blockings in these scenes have changed since then, such as the removal of chairs in the scene.
As this was the very first major production that I have directed. Hence, there were some confusion between the actors later on. Nonetheless, it was alleviated with the help of the other TEATRO maincomms.

Research Report (second edition, 12/7/2019)
Screenshot on one part of the research annotated bibliography:
The second edition of the research report was made to include the necessary feedback into my report. More research sources were added into the report to fulfil the what was stated in the learning contract.
Overall, I feel that this report did not just teach me about Singapore’s history and its current society. But, it also taught me on how to write a proper annotated bibliography which can come in handy should I write such research reports in the future.

Third edition of the NDC script (25/7/2019)
Screenshot on the first page of the third edition of the NDC script
After TEATRO’s preview was concluded, a third edition of the script was made to have a more logical transition of different segments of the show. It was also made to have a shorter time for each scenes, this is so that the acting scenes don’t get too draggy.
With the third edition script made, DMPC Guided Learning students involved in the National Day Concert were notified and were issued the new script.

First version of actors blocking for the National Day Concert (1 July 2019)
This was the first version of the actors blocking. As the blocking was directed in the Black Box Theatre (BBT) in TP, there was a different in stage space whereby the BBT was smaller than TCC.
Nonetheless, we managed to block most of the scenes, up till the conclusion scene. The blocking was changed during the preview period of 14 - 26 July, to further accommodate the stage space of TCC.
Acronyms written inside the blocking:
S - Samantha
I - Isabelle
N - Nirmal (changed to Nila during the preview period)
G - Gabrielle
A / Am - Amanda
P - Priscilla
U - Umar
R - Rachel
AS - Ah Seow

Monitoring log 5 (5/7/2019)
Key points discussed:
Further improvements that can make the research report better: by incorporating brevity and terse into the research annotated bibliography.
Identifying formatting errors such as inconsistencies in referencing, and grammatical errors such as repeating words in the summary of research source and wrong choice of words.
Action timeline that needs to be updated, as there were delays in the schedule due to unforeseen curriculum circumstances.
Photos and videos to display evidences of work
What I must produce for next session:
Improved and final version of the research annotated bibliography
Edited timeline, with reasons to its changes
Reflection on my learning progress so far (what went well, what didn’t go well, what do I need to improve on)
I came in with the modifications done to the research annotated bibliography. Although there were definitely more rooms for improvement in the annotated bibliography, by reviewing the research constantly, I get to understand more of my own research sources and how can it be further applied to my scriptwriting, and stage directing.
There were some last minute changes to setting up the consultation and it could have been averted if I have planned this out earlier. Nonetheless, this is a good learning experience for me as I feel that in future meetings, I will know that planning it out earlier is better than last minute.
From the feedback that I have received for my research, I can also use it to apply in my script and identify lines that can be further shortened.
After consulting with my advisor and the resources on LMS, I also have a rough idea on how my e-portfolio should look like. I can also consider taking video snippets and/or images of the rehearsal process now as it can reflect well on the process went through during the rehearsal.
