one time, as a kid, I watched someone make an omelette. after stewing on the idea for a full day, I asked my mother how it worked, got a basic lesson, and then proceeded to spend the next three months in the omelette mines making 3-5 omelettes every single day (depending on how many of my siblings were left with any tolerance for eating them) until I felt I had really truly certainly gotten a grasp on the concept of the omelette
I then repeated this every time I learned a recipe, which is funny because I didn't even like cooking beyond a passing interest, I was just really interested in the idea of being able to max out the skill or something
as soon as I demonstrated mastery over something, I immediately dropped it and moved onto the next thing, and this was an understood pattern to the point where my siblings would try to prompt me into spending a period of fixation on whatever they wanted to eat at the time, and then they'd have several servings of it a day until they got sick of it and started to hate it
but them enjoying it wasn't really the goal. largely tangential. I mostly just wanted to get it down and then move on.
moral of the story: none

The older I get the less I can comprehend grown-ass adults being mean to kids, people in customer service, and especially teenagers in customer jobs. Saw some kid in a fast food place in an uniform that clearly stated "work training" and how I feel is almost exactly the same as seeing a little puppy in a harness that says "guide dog in training, do not disturb".
Like oh my god little baby has a job! Good job small baby!
#as a teacher i automatically strike up cheerful conversations with all teens everywhere i go out of like. habit#and i remember how adults treating me like more than a nuisance boosted my confidence so much#so i do that and its so funny how bemused they are and how quickly they clock that i teach#lol

The people who go "well who's going to look after you when you're old?" when you say you're not having kids are breathtakingly naive. Our next-door neighbour, somewhere in her mid-80s, has a son, grandkids, and a grear-granddaughter, and who's the one she calls when she needs help, and checks that she's not spending christmas alone? Me and my boyfriend.
Having kids is irrelevant if the answer to that question is still going to be "the mentally ill faggots next door."

some of the most discerning men you know - men who would ask for a source if a woman told them the sky was blue - genuinely believed jordan peterson when he told them he cured chronic illness with the carnivore diet. these men would be court eunuchs in previous lives.
