some deets on gabelstapler since she seemed to be quite well received

her full serial is STAR-P1706. she belongs to my original facility, P-17 Pickover. (i may or may not post more about it - depends on how much i decide to flesh it out)

her cadre follows a construction/earthmoving equipment naming convention. i went out of my way to pick out tough sounding names for her fellow stars and then on the other hand we've got (gestures) kid named forklift

pickover is a large biostorage facility (think frozen zoos, svalbard seed vault, etc) so forklift operation would be quite necessary there. i still haven't decided on the origin of her callsign, but someone suggested that a storch or an officer star once insulted her while she was operating a forklift and the name stuck. i like that a lot lmao i'm strongly considering going in that direction

personality-wise i was trying to channel justice from helltaker and eda from black lagoon. shortly after drawing her i showed her to a friend who joked that i should draw her in scenes from forklift driver klaus, which may or may not have bled into her personality somewhat. to whoever tagged 'workplace injuries go up significantly' on my first post about her, you have entirely the right idea lol

she was intended to be more like a gag character since i was struggling to come up with an interesting premise for a star. it just so happened that she became my favorite of my bunch

i haven't fleshed out many of her relationships yet but she's a massive loser for a star + is buddies with an oddball custodian eule who likes to sneak cigs and booze for her during late hours

ALSO: i have a bad habit of coloring star armor way too light. (i cosplayed a star unit at a local convention last year, bought the wrong kind of paint and had to roll with it... so now i just kinda think of star armor as being way lighter than it actually is.) i might just work that into her design though.
