lee jiwon was born to a wealthy family. her father is the ceo of numerous hotels scattered around south korea and her mother is the ceo of a large pharmaceutical company. her older brother is an actor, with his most noteable role being ahn minhyuck in strong girl bongsoon. he is also said to be rumoured to be dating red velvet's irene. her younger sister is a college student and famous vlogger.

her childhood was filled with boring dinners at expensive restaurants which were filled with business talk and staying at home with the lee family nanny, whilst her parents worked all day and night. it was her nanny that urged her to follow her dreams of being an idol, helping her learn dance moves to her favourite kpop songs at the time and being her fan whenever jiwon performed what she had learnt.

after months of begging her mostly absent parents, they agreed for jiwon to go to dance class where she quickly became praised for her looks more than her dancing. it caused jiwon to become more determined to show people that she was more than a pretty face, that her being good-looking was just an added bonus.

jiwon auditioned for multiple companies, being accepted into only three of the seven. in the end, oath media won her over with the message they were trying to send out.
