Brucie Wayne accidentally killing the joker

This happens before Red Hood is revealed as Jason, but after he shows up. Bruce is at a gala and has been very stressed lately, which is why he was so caught off guard with the Joker arriving. A big thing about today? It’s Jason’s adoption day anniversary. Bruce is barely clinging to being good.

However, Joker has a new laughing gas that he thought would make everyone fall into a catatonic state of laughter, striking a blow against all of Gotham’s elite.

That’s what he thought it would do.

Instead, it lowered inhibitions and increased their emotions. It also reduced their ability to think things through. Doing this to Bruce, who is stressed with Red Hood making moves and Justice League stuff getting more stressful and it being the anniversary of the day he could finally welcome his beautiful boy into the family, only to be face to face with the reason he lost his kid?

It only takes one comment about the old Robin for Bruce to go feral.

He isn’t thinking things through, isn’t focused on how hard he is hitting things, or where they are moving until he’s on a balcony with the Joker, and he’s distantly aware he’s been screaming about the clown having done enough-

Everyone watches, spellbound, as Brucie Wayne, under the influence of this new gas, pitches both the Joker and himself off the balcony, twenty stories above the ground.

Red Hood catches Brucie Wayne.

No one catches the Joker.

The morning papers scream about how the Joker died from Gotham’s prince being drugged, and how the city’s new crime lord kidnapped Brucie before he could die.

Everyone in Gotham is in disarray.

Dick is panicking after seeing the headline. (He was in Bludhaven.)

Tim is cursing himself. (He was home sick with the flu.)

Jason is struggling with his emotions.

Alfred is loading his shot gun.

I refuse to accept that Bruce being mad at Jason for killing is canon. It makes no sense.

Batman can't kill. Sure partially because he never wants anyone to lose family like he did even if that family is criminal. But that doesn't apply to people like the Joker. Who's going to miss Joker? The people who he mentally broke? No, the reason batman doesn't kill people like the joker - truly purely vile and evil human beings is because than vengeance will swallow him and he knows it. He knows that if he crosses that line, he may not return. He'll want to kill every criminal who hurts someone. So, for the safety of Gotham, so that he doesn't become an overlord, he doesn't kill.

But that doesn't mean no one else can. So as far as I am concerned the canon version is:

Batman:*concerned that his son is killing and might lose himself and default to killing instead of trying to save* Don't kill the joker

Red hood:*kills Joker*

Batman:...

Red hood:...*doesn't just go around killing redeemable characters. Employs low level criminals and treats them fairly. Takes care of children in crime Alley.*

Batman:...ok. Alfred is making lasagna, wanna come home for dinner son?

Jason Todd should have dropped the UTRH plan and go pursue the acting career, instead. Confronting Batman? Easy and ineffective. Having your face plastered across the whole city, and intentionally picking up roles in remakes of your father's favourite movies? That is scary. That is haunting.

the fact that Jason formed the outlaws and technically became a well known international vigilante as well as just a Gotham hero is actually so interesting to me. i wanna see an au where Jason just stayed an outlaw and never went back to Gotham at all. never revealed his identity, but became a well known hero with ties to various members of the JLA anyway because of Roy and Kori. eventually, for some reason, Red Hood is asked to become an official member, and then we get the absolutely golden scenario of the smug as shit Red Hood, feet up on the table at the watchtower, unflinchingly staring down the pissed off form of Batman sat opposite, well fucking aware that he is the only member of the JLA that Bruce won’t be able to figure out the identity of. it is driving Bruce NUTS and Jason is having the time of his life.

meanwhile Constantine is sat in the corner, head bouncing back and forth between them, fully aware of everything, content to watch shit go down only because 1: its funny and 2: Jason bought him a smoothie

i just wanna see anonymous JLA member Red Hood dancing circles around Batman due to his secret identity and immense knowledge/experience of fucking with B, and absolutely nobody can figure out how he does it.

so anyway I’m at my job (I work at a rock wall) and I’m helping kids get harnessed in and what not and having conversation with my coworker when she asks about my bf and what not, ya know, normal talk, and then the 11 year old girl I’m helping get a harness on just asks

“Are you a virgin?”

LIKE WHAT

YOURE ELEVEN AND THATS EXTREMELY PERSONAL AND THEN SHE GOES ON TO ASK EVEN MORE PERSONAL QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT KIND OF STUFF AND REMINDER, there are kids around, like little kids, like ages 4+. then she proceeds to grab my coworker and make her let go of the rope she was trying to hook back up to the mat and I had to climb all the way up to grab it, which wasn’t that bad, I like climbing, but it wasn’t okay that she just grabbed by coworker like that.

the my coworkers shift ended and I was alone for a bit, with this girl, and she proceeds to again ask me personal questions, try to pick me up, attempt to unhook herself from the rock wall and make me almost lose my job, there’s only so much I can do about a kid, because I can’t grab them unless they give me express permission and that’s only when I’m helping them down if they got stuck or are scared, I can only ask the to knock it off but that’s about it’s and the. She proceeds to call me hot and that if she was a few years older she’d totally try to hit on me, and then exactly two minutes later calls me sister and tries to drag me to the playmaze. When she left I have never felt more relived.
