Semaphore Lakes

A great place to take older kids who can carry their own clothes and food, is Semaphore Lakes, near Pemberton, B.C. It’s a similar set up to Garabaldi Lake, wherein you hike in, set up base camp and then do day hikes to the peaks around. We’ve hiked into this area twice - once with each other and another time with our then 2-year-old daughter and then 5-year-old cocker spaniel. Check out both trips on my blog, The Mountain Goat.

Cheakamus Lake

Having two small children hasn’t stopped my husband and I from backpack camping and hiking. Last summer, we took our daughters, then 6 and 2.5, to Cheakamus Lake, near Whistler, B.C. for an easy hiking and camping adventure. Check out our weekend on my blog, The Mountain Goat.

Tenquille Lake
