It never fails to amaze me how far fanon characterization of Tim has drifted from his actual canon self.
Canon Tim is firmly Gen X. He's an extreme latchkey kid who actively and duplicitously resists any attempt at parenting him because that would cut into his vigilante time. He's a skater-slacker kid who dropped out of school to be a full-time hero and got himself emancipated because he hates being told what to do. He's a self-taught photographer who at the age of 10 had better shots of Batman and Robin than the press. He figured out their identities because he had imprinted on Dick Grayson like a duckling, but told no one and probably would have kept the secret for life if Jason hadn't died. He literally looked at an unhinged, grieving grown man whi is also a dangerous vigilante, saw he was actively in the process of going off the deep end, and went "is anyone going to adopt this fucked up man?" and didn't wait for an answer. He's an unrepentant Car Guy who salivates over Ducati bikes and his boyfriend's biceps. He had a full enemies-to-lovers arc with the girl who hit him with a brick. He's had more love interests than any two other Robins combined and has a preference for people who can kick his ass. He plays D&D. He's been to more funerals in one year than most people go to in a lifetime. He dated a mafiya princess. He lies, repeatedly and successfully, to Batman. He becomes a villain in every alternate timeline. He taught himself cloning to try to bring his best friend back to life. He almost killed Captain Boomerang. He has contingency plans to take out everyone he knows. He's the most like Bruce in terms of how they think and that terrifies him. He knows he's not the best choice to lead a team and willingly steps aside because being a good tactician isn't the only quality a leader needs. He loves the Clash. He genuinely thought Alvin Draper was a good fake name. He owned Superboy merch before he even liked Kon. He's arguably the pettiest of all the Robins. He's smart, but only about things that interest him. He hugs people readily. He's a massive pop culture nerd. He was trained by Lady Shiva. He's Cass's favorite. He survived the Clench.
He's so, so much more interesting than the sleep-deprived sadboy we get in every fic.

I just remembered my second Pride, where I made different flag themed daisy chain bracelets/necklaces to hand out. I need folks to understand something:
They were free.
They were fucking free.
They were maybe ¢60 of acrylic yarn each at the most, and the whole ziploc bag of them took 2 hours max.
Three people gave me sad eyes until I took their money.
Someone who was clearly the mom friend of their group made me take a $5 and gave a 10 minute pep talk.
At least four more people insisted on getting change to pay for the, once again, free bracelets.
In spite of all these shenanigans, the absolute best was this one person who I can only describe as, “queer surfer dude who looks like a boyfriend who looks like a girlfriend.” I can remember nothing of the outfit, only the impeccable vibes. I did the same thing I did with everyone else, explaining the bracelets were free, and they nodded along as they took the last 6 strand rainbow bracelet. As soon as they had it on their wrist, they pointed at something over my shoulder and, like a fool, I looked.
Next thing I know, they’re running off cackling, yelling, “YOU’LL NEVER CATCH ME!” and I’m holding a fucking $20. I had to stop at least two people from chasing them, cause they thought the person stole something, and then they tried to give me money cause they thought it was funny seeing me flail over people being Too Nice.
That was the year I got reverse-robbed at Pride. I hope everyone out there is having a good time and, in particular, that queer surfer dude is out there still causing benevolent chaos.

Imagining the University President reaching out to Wymack at some point and requesting that he work on Alumni events and Wymack realizing that he actually has Alumni to reach out to. That he has kids that have made it.

Genuinely adore Six of Crows because it’s one of the very few books that manages to have six main characters who all have fully fleshed out backstories. Like, some of the characters (specifically Jesper and Nina) could’ve easily just been played off as the 2 dimensional comic relief characters, but they’re not. I love it because all of the characters are allowed to develop as characters of their own, but this also bleeds into the development of their relationships, friendships etc. with the other Crows.

some of you think ‘nuanced’ only means ‘morally grey’ and I’m here to tell you that actually straight up good characters can still be nuanced and unapologetically evil characters can still be nuanced. the character doesn’t have to be an anti hero or morally dubious to have depth. they don’t even have to feel sorry about their crimes to have depth.

i say this in all seriousness, a great way to resist the broad cultural shift of devaluing curiosity and critical thinking is to play my favorite game, Hey What Is That Thing
you play it while walking around with friends and if you see something and don't know what it is or wonder why its there, you stop and point and say Hey What Is That Thing. and everyone speculates about it. googling it is allowed but preferably after spending several minutes guessing or asking a passerby about it
weird structures, ambiguous signs, unfamiliar car modifications, anything that you can't immediately understand its function. eight times out of ten, someone in the group actually knows, and now you know!
a few examples from me and my friends the past few weeks: "why is there a piece of plywood sticking out of that pond in a way that looks intentional?" (its a ramp so squirrels that fall in to the pond can climb out) • "my boss keeps insisting i take a vacation of nine days or more, thats so specific" (you work at a bank, banks make employees take vacation in long chunks so if youre stealing or committing fraud, itll be more obvious) • "why does this brick wall have random wooden blocks in it" (theres actually several reasons why this could be but we asked and it was so you could nail stuff to the wall) • "most of these old factories we drive past have tinted windows, was that just for style?" (fun fact the factory owners realized that blue light keeps people awake, much like screen light does now, so they tinted the windows blue to keep workers alert and make them work longer hours)
been playing this game for a long time and ive learned (and taught) a fuckton about zoning laws, local history, utilities (did you know you can just go to your local water treatment plant and ask for a tour and if they have a spare intern theyll just give you a tour!!!) and a whole lot of fun trivia. and now suddenly you're paying more attention when youre walking around, thinking about the reasons behind every design choice in the place you live that used to just be background noise. and it fuckin rules.

hate when people think the only archetype possible for a male sidekick to a female protagonist is a soft boi and/or himbo. like the implication there is that the only reason a man would ever defer to a woman’s authority is if he was a bumbling idiot. love male supporting characters who are smart and strong and confident and can step up when necessary but still kind and humble enough to let someone else take the lead most of the time
