The Preposterous Astonishments travel postcard set imagines a roadside attraction theme with inspiration from the music of They Might Be Giants. This group of outlandish objects and scenes should be on everyone’s vacation itinerary.
I attended TMBG Dallas concerts in 1988, 1990 and 1992 at Club Clearview, the Arcadia and the Majestic. Their imaginative sound and lyrics have stayed with me all these years and I never tire of their boundless creativity. My images are by no means an attempt to interpret their inspiration for the songs, but rather an exercise in exploring the surreal fun they conjure in my mind.
