I think The Adventure Zone Balance arc might have been the last time I felt joy (aka connected to a story and inspired and wanting to create thanks to it)

What is this about the tumblr staff wanting to sell art data to midjourney?
An ex-colleague of mine mentioned yesterday that there may be contacts between Automattic and midjourney in that direction, but nothing is public yet and I don't have any more info. They probably won't have anything specific to share either, since they left the company weeks ago too. That being said:
I have no reason to doubt my ex-coworker word, they are a trustworthy person.
Tumblr's CEO has been absurdly enthusiastic (comically, even) about AI, and is a big fan of LLMs and 'AI' companies.
A deal with midjourney could solve tumblr financial issues (not the same company, but openAi is paying up to 5 million/year to news companies to use their content as training data... tumblr generates several orders of magnitude more content than any newspaper or any media company and it only would need a 20 to 30 million per year deal to be profitable)
So I don't have any extra info yet, but I'm keeping my ears open.

the thing to me about every "likes dont matter reblog more art" esque posts i see every two weeks, especially the idea that people somehow don't know how to or that they should be reblogging posts, is its just.
do you really think everyone on this website is unable put together the thought "sharing this post with others will allow more people to see it"?
"new users don't know how to reblog" new users are made to go through an onboarding process where tumblr tells them directly how to make and reblog posts!
it has nothing to do with whether or not people know about the act of reblogging things. it has everything to do with the fact that the internet has shifted away from small communities of likeminded individuals to "content creators" and their "audiences".
People do not reblog art to their blogs because their blogs do not have followers, ergo they don't have any followers to share your work with so they use their blog as a place to collect things for themselves to look at not to share with others, so every post you make asking people to share your art with their followers makes them go "well this isnt about me".
Their blogs do not have followers because they are not creating posts of their own, which means they are not a "content creator", they dont have an "audience" to gain.
Themed blogs on this website used to be a lot more common. These blogs, while not creating their own posts, acted as central hubs for a particular kind of content on the website, looking through tags and following other people in order to curate their blog with that particular topic. Thusly people interested in that topic would follow these curators.
Nowadays the algorithm acts as the curator for people—you visit your for you tab, tumblr curates you a list of posts from the topic youre interested in. You no longer need to follow curator blogs, you just follow people directly and via your feed. Nobody follows you, why would they?
What's the point in reblogging the posts you like when there's only 3 people who ever like anything you reblog anyway?
THIS is why reblogs are less than they used to be. People know how to reblog, people understand that sharing your work with other people helps get more eyes on your work, and anyone who is following you wants to support your work and help you. But what eyes are they going to get on your work by sharing with their blog that gets 3 likes a month?
So less focus on guilting people into reblogging art, more focus on encouraging the return of making and following curated blogs, imo.

This year and these last couple of months in particular have wrecked absolute hell on my mental health, I'm hoping to be able to do something about it but the road is full of wait times and having to do the things I hate the most (making decisions and calling for appointments)
I wish a serene 2024 to everyone, gods know we need it

In ASL and SSL, this is the gesture for "Inshallah," which means means "God willing"; it's used to express hope that a specific future event will come to pass.
In a few hours, a temporary ceasefire or "humanitarian pause" is going to start
But what happens after? Does israel get to resume bombing on Monday, business as usual? 4 days is not enough to even begin digging out all the bodies from the rubble, let alone all the reparations Palestinians are owed by 'Israel' and other Western leaders
Inshallah, we will not stop at a ceasefire
Inshallah, we will see complete liberation for Palestine
🇵🇸 Things you can do below 🇵🇸
🍉 SHARE posts from Palestinians, especially journalists on the ground (copy link on IG works just as well as sharing?). They're literally dying for that footage 🙃 let's make sure it counts
🍉 DONATE an E-sim @connectinghumanity_ on IG
🍉 BOYCOTT brands listed by @bdsnationalcommittee on IG
Official boycott targets: AXA, Puma, Carrefour, Siemens, Ahava, HP, Sodastream, any products from Israel
Organic boycott targets: Domino's, McDonald's, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Wix
🍉 PRESSURE your governments & officials to call for a ceasefire and #InvokeGenocideConvention at the ICJ (rootsaction.org)
.
.
.
.
.
it was also important to me to include an Al-Qassam fighter in this, because they're often scapegoated by Western media, and also by well-meaning allies who say "but civilians are not Hamas"
Yeah, most civilians are not Hamas, but they don't denounce them either. Palestinians call them freedom fighters, protectors
because the resistance is not a bunch of evil, violent outliers; they are as much victims of the occupation as the women, children, and non-combatants are
I will never condemn boys who live along the coast but have never seen the sea.

Did people actually like the finale? It really soured the whole thing for me, like okay I get that the season got shortened but the amount of character arcs and problems etc that got no closure really made everything else feel kinda pointless
Like Ed's been wanting to leave piracy since we met him, he tries to be a fisherman (granted, the way he went about it was awful) and gets told "no, go back to killing that's all you're good for", HE DOES, and then just leaves again like that was nothing, no exploration of his state of mind or anything in between?
Stede feeling inadequate and ignored his whole life, the whole thing with the Badminton twins, then this season he kills a man willingly, gets cocky for once at being admired (due to the aforementioned feelings of inadequacy he's still somewhat carrying) and eats shit for it, all of that just... Goes kinda nowhere? What he went through this season should cause some change in him, yet I don't feel there's any difference between the Stede in the first episode and the Stede in the last one, idk
