my thoughts on sabrina's album cover (as the most correct person about everything)
it's literally impossible to know the intended meaning of it without context (aka the album)
it's an excellent marketing strategy. everyone's talking about it so, likely, more people will stream the album.
it isn't sabrina's job to be palatable to anyone. it isn't any artist's job to be palatable (this is how art dies).
an album cover does not need to be a feminist manifesto. an album doesn't need to be a feminist manifesto. the messiness and complexity of a person's art doesn't always make for the best political argument or litmus test, and that's why it is ART, not a speech at a political debate. (this doesn't mean art isn't political, it is just allowed as a medium to not be as transparent about its values because that's one possible use for it out of millions of uses.)
any kids who are looking at this and understand its sexual undertones already know something about sex and it's a great time to have an open and honest convo if you are concerned. any kids too young won't understand what they're looking at. sorry to parents everywhere, but it's not sabrina's job to make music for everyone. if you don't like that your kid is singing about being horny, that's something you need to address with them so they understand why.
i think we all need to have sluttier summers and i appreciate that this might help inspire the people to do so.

Anyone else tired of teen shows where it’s sooo obvious that the writers are all adults who have no idea what it’s like to be in high school/a young person nowadays? If you’re going to write about teenagers, consult teenagers!!! I’m tired of this inaccurate, cringey dialogue that uses ‘teen slang’ that’s inaccurate/outdated. I’m tired of plot lines that would never really happen to us in real life. Please please please tv show writers for the love of god consult and research the people you are portraying. If you write a show about basketball players, you research what it’s like to be a basketball player. So if you’re writing about high schoolers/teens, do your damn research too. Or better yet, hire young, talented writers who are currently experiencing what you are writing about. Stop being lazy. Make it authentic please🙏
