The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.

Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.

So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.

Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

A revision to the public land sale proposal has been dusted off and added back to that Big dumb Beautiful greedy Bill. A majority of public land including mountains, prairies, deserts, back country trails, recreation areas, lake sides, river gorges, and yes, even some coastal lands will be sold to the highest bidder if this thing passes.

There will be more expensive resorts, mass logging, and mining, and higher prices on many commodities due to monopoly and shortages.

There will also be less diverse wild lands, homes for wildlife, cattle grazing land, freshwater for fish, native managed land, lands for loggers, miners and cattle ranches to lease and less dark skies. Anyone rich enough could buy this land and use it for whatever they want. And, I mean anyone in the world. Once it is gone, it is not coming back.

i do want to mention that skarsgård nailed it as murderbot. the facial expressions are perfect. every interaction with a real life person is excruciatingly awkward. body language is hesitant, and avoidant and just generally uncomfortable. that look of absolute horror when the team asked to talk to murderbot in crew uniform instead of its armor? the visceral disgust when it's forced to say the word 'sex' out loud? the way its speech is either halting and nervous, or too-fast and not following the conversation queues from the rest of the group? perfection.
