With a playful smile, Elliot opened up his arms as if to say ‘ Go ahead, look all you want ’ The only thing that was missing was him spinning in a circle to give her a proper look of his boring old uniform, but he knew better than to do that. “ C plus? Come on, it’s at least a B minus material, give me some credit! ” His eyes held a glint of humour as he folded his arms over his chest, still trying to look serious and professional but failing miserably. He knew standing out in the middle of the street talking to her where anyone could see him acting more like a human than a machine was incredibly risky and irresponsible, but he couldn’t help it. Having a normal conversation, or well any conversation felt like an electric shock throughout his entire system, he needed this. “ Yeah, it’s strange how everything seems to evolve except humans. They never seem to be able to change because of their hatred for everything different. I mean no offence of course. “
She gives a slight smirk, “It’d have been an a plus plus if I’d have made it but I’ll throw you this one freebie.” For a piece of plastic as others called them, this one knew how to talk. It wasn’t necessarily a bad thing but it was different to have an actual conversation with a deviant. The differences between deviants and obedient machines were becoming more apparent, evident just by the conversation. The blonde shifts weight to the other foot to release it from an awkward sleep. And heels? Not ideal for long sidewalk conversation but like she’s always done in the past, she doesn’t pay much mind. “If I was offended, you’d know it.” iced out and ghosted would be the primary signs and Chloe was always consistent. “That’s exactly how it’s always been and there’s always a cluster of humans who have the same idea. They follow the crowd and follow under the leader leading them to war and battle. It’ll always be like that. It’s just a matter of which side wins.” She shrugs, coming off as indifferent to it but if she’s honest, she is enjoying the intellectually stimulating conversation. It’s sad she hasn’t been able to converse like this until with a deviant.
“Don’t get me wrong but I just can’t get on board with those who believe in world peace. To me, it’s delusional and not logical of reality.” It might come off as harsh to those with the people who truly believe in world peace but it wasn’t possible or else it would’ve happened years ago. There’s only so far she will step into believing past reality and that was usually through ambition. Known for dreaming big with success before it happened was proof of that. But not for the fame but for others loving her ideas of clothes and that electric feeling through her body seeing a medium sized frame strutting the New York pavement in her attire. Though lately it’s been more about numbers and maybe somewhere along the way, she’s lost the heart for it. Passion barely hanging by a thread and this conversation seemed to reach past the superficiality of the Big Apple.

He couldn’t help but let out a quiet chuckle when she mentioned who would actually be in trouble if someone would have dared to ruin her fabric. “ I can’t blame you. I mean I don’t know much about fashion or clothes or anything like that, obviously- ” He told her as he gestured at his uniform which he always had to wear except during those rare moments when he was able to get out of the station without anyone knowing. During those moments he would steal some leftover clothes just so he could blend in better with the crowd. which didn’t leave much room to think too much about fashion. “ I still think it looks beautiful, it would have been a damn tragedy if it had been ruined. “ He told her with a hint of a smile playing on his lips. “ Yeah people keep arguing over androids but all I can see are people who are slowly beginning to lose their humanity, if I should be honest. but I’m really glad you’re alright, you never know what these assholes are capable of doing. “
“May I?” She leans in closer for further inspection of the material of his uniform from the sleeve, scrunching her nose with a smile. “It’s solid c plus material.” A light joke at the uniform which she was hoping he didn’t take the wrong way. “More than a tragedy I’d say. I worked hard on this, it’s quite a one of a kind. No one else has it, of course it’s gonna look beautiful on me.” Arrogance bleeds into confidence, a subtle way of saying thank you. “The history of humanity hasn’t changed. There’s been so many different things for us to fight about, to hate, to rally for. The course of humanity hasn’t changed, it’s just.. become more aggressive as the world has evolved so much even from fifty years ago.” While she wasn’t a history buff in high school or college, she did know the basics most should know. “You don’t got to worry about me El. I’m made of steel.”

“a sketchpad to prevent more doodling on her schoolwork, a doll she’s asked for thirty-seven times in the last two months, and i believe her father ordered something else for her as he won’t be able to attend.” not that the android or the girl had expected him to attend - he hadn’t for the last three years, there was little reason to believe he would now. still, dolly always seemed happy with simply having her friends over. “do you have much experience with children?”
A small smile was brought to lips with the reminisce of doodling. She too often doodled in everything, mostly horrid dress and outfit ideas --- good days. As quickly as the smile came on, she retained a stoned face. “Don’t worry about it, I’ll get it.” And more knowing Chloe. She seemed to have a soft spot for kids whose parents weren’t always around. It mirrored her own upbringing which at times, felt lonely. The only thing to hold onto was fashion and design. Blind hope the clothes would at least bring her and her mother closer failed. A relationship with her father seemed so far out of reach. She wondered if even a thing was possible anymore as this was normalcy. “No, but I work with child models a lot. They’re alright for the most part. I don’t look to have any of my own in the future.” Opinion could always change, but it wasn’t likely.

“you drive a hard bargain, you know?” she let out a groan, a playful sort of exhaustion on her features - she didn’t actually mind the idea but it was fun to be a little dramatic sometimes, wasn’t it? “alright, you’ve got a deal. i’ll show you some of my old paintings, you share some of your old designs. who knows, maybe we can breathe some new life into them.”
“The hardest.” She’s a teaser right back, in more ways than one but it’s lighthearted. Knowing fully well she can be one of the most dominating women in her family, often not reciprocated well by the males at family reunions. “Consider it done. You’ll have to give me a bit to find it, it’s probably mixed in with Christmas decos. Don’t ask; things just end up in there.” She laughs about the fact. Anytime something’s been lost, it’s always been in the holiday closet. Probably from a live maid is her guess.

“so you keep reminding me,” she said with a grateful smile. every now and then a pep talk from your good friend helped. even for someone as confident as joanna. “i think we’re getting a bite to eat at some restaurant, and then we’re going to a play on broadway.” scrunching her nose, the brunette supposed, “so fancy, but not too fancy. if you catch my drift? i don’t wanna wear a gown or a suit and tie, but i do want to look like i didn’t just go thrift store shopping.” which is how she usually looked.
“Well, do I lie?” The answer: No. Chloe has too much of a personality to go the length of lying to a person. Brutal honesty as always been one of her key features. “Sounds nice... and quaint.” Chloe couldn’t remember the last time she’d been out with someone on a such that involved broadway or anything similar. She’d be envious if she wasn’t so preoccupied. “Please, you should know thrift store is nowhere near the Rayne name but I think I can manage what you’re wanting. You’re welcome to raid my closet for something if you want. I have so much stuff I bought for this fall season I haven’t even worn yet.”

“ This is madness ” Elliot mumbled mostly to himself as he watched the people shout and scream at each other while being dragged away by the police. The hatred and the anger in their voices echoing all around them. He was sure that if he was, in fact, a human he would be shivering slightly at the side of this. “ Yeah few trampling were reported but nothing too serious. ” He paused for a moment as he watched the scene before him slowly begin to calm down. “ You didn’t get hurt, did you? ” Even if he had become a deviant while ago and he knew he didn’t have to follow his program and make sure everyone was healthy and unharmed he sometimes couldn’t help it, especially when it came to people he knew and cared about.
“Of course. New York plus android hate, mixed with pro androids and it’s a perfect recipe for people to act like escaped caged gorillas in the square.” Chloe was never one to be involved in anything physical. Preferring to best her opponents elsewhere at her stronger points. A competitive nature helps in the winning department in the end. “No, I’m not. They should consider themselves lucky, if they had managed to snag this fabric-----” That might’ve been the only time she’d lash out. Her clothes were absolutely priceless and hard worked and to have it ruined? Yeah she’d be mad. “Thanks for the concern though. Don’t find that often these days.”

“ Give or take, ” Nico returned. “ Like I said, not really in it for the money, that’s just a nice … bonus. ” His shoulders raised in a slight shrug. “ Yeah probably I will be fairly busy, especially now it seems some of the deviated coding has led certain models to be able to harm humans. ”
“You make them sound like savages. But then again, the news is doing a good job of that as well. I personally haven’t came across a deviant to know for sure.”

“i mean sure, but consider other designers or whatever,” she grinned a bit as she spoke, shrugging slightly. “hell, i’ll show you some of my half-assed pieces from when i was younger, back when i just wanted to win people’s favor by trying to mimic other’s styles. surely you’ve seen something and just thought that it was lacking - missing something vital that made it feel right. but while you thought that, someone standing right next to you might think it was the best damn thing they’ve ever seen.” she’d learned early on that the saying ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure’ was more accurate than people seemed to think. “i paint whatever i feel like most of the time - which varies day to day - and hope someone out there will like it. usually they do. commission pieces are harder, but if someone’s willing to pay me i’m usually willing to try.”
“Once or twice.” Often in the malls, where she is utterly turned off and there’s others who find it completely stunning. She could see where she was coming from. “I think I might still have an old, old sketchbook from when I was fourteen, fifteen. Who knows, maybe a different set of eyes will make me consider using some of the old ideas just touch it up.” The wheels were turning, excitement churning. Ideas she had as a dumb kid with ambition might actually be worth a remix. “But I’ll only show them if you follow through on those... half assed pieces.”

“yes, it would seem they’ve updated their policy since i was last here.” nova paused for a moment, simulating a natural pause in conversation while studying the woman in front of her. “supplies and a gift, for a birthday party. my… owner’s daughter is turning seven soon, and i meant to have a party for her tomorrow and ordered the supplies last week. however, if you’re busy i’m certain i can find alternate means of gathering what i need.”
“They have.” Ever since the big breaking news of attacking androids, shops cracked down. Anti android signs were everywhere. Androids weren’t hardly allowed in anywhere. Except where they were permitted. “Seven is a good age,” The android nearly has her. Growing up the way she did was encouraging, inspiring but also very lonely. Nannies threw her birthday parties and only the worthy kids were allowed to come as per what her parents requested during their absence. It strikes a sentimental chord. “What kind of gift?”

This was not supposed to happen. Elliott, of course, wanted freedom for his people but he didn’t want all this disruption. He didn’t want the fighting and he definitely didn’t want people or androids getting hurt. That was exactly what was happening when Elliott and the rest of the team arrived after a fight had spontaneously broken out between a couple of people out in the middle of a street over this whole mess. It wasn’t until the fight had finally ended and he had taken care of anyone that needed his help when he noticed a familiar face in the crowd. It was Chloe, he hadn’t seen her in a while so without even thinking twice about it he walked across the street to her. “ Hey ” a gentle smile appeared on his lips before he glanced over his shoulder to make sure no one was paying any attention to him. “ You didn’t get caught up in this whole mess, did you? ”
This is what happens when a riot breaks out. Casualties at every end from being pushed, shoved, trampled on. She was simply trying to get in the building behind the mob but it seemed to be an impossible task. Aggravated; why can’t there be a fight anywhere but here? She gives up after being practically shoved to the side. About to call to make other arrangements, the blonde notices a familiar face which doesn’t help alleviate the frustration. “El.” Tone of voice gives way to sour mood, but she isn’t the type to lash out at others either. “I’d be lying if I said no. I’ll have to wait until it dies down.” Brushing a stray blonde strand behind ear, adjusting the top she was wearing that felt crooked. Have there been any report of tramplings? I wouldn’t be surprised.”

“Fascinating. I mean do you know what kind of press this is all getting? Or are you asking for a more constructive answer? Again fascinating, mostly because I’m curious to know how one becomes deviant. What does it take for their ‘code’ to change and make them deviant?”
“I’m aware.” How can you not be with what’s going on? It’s everywhere you look. Definitely not the station you want on with your breakfast. “Must be something big... Or a virus. I’ve had androids working for me for years and they’re the same as the day they were purchased.” Receptionists, assistants, each remained the same. Not a sign of deviancy to them. Then again, she never really was looking. “Have you come across one yet?”

“excuse me,” she called out to the first person she’d spotted passing by, standing a small distance from a shop with a brand new sign in the window. “i don’t mean to bother you, but would you be able to retrieve my order? or perhaps know of a similar store without an android policy?” up until the recent news of deviancy broke the android had been able to enter this particular store with no issue, where now it seemed the owner was being overly cautious by banning androids. on any other occasion she would’ve simply looked up an alternate store, but as this one was still registered as android-friendly she had to assume she wouldn’t be able to tell without making her way to the next one.
Chloe was in the middle of a very important phone call. Business inquiries that needed urgent attention. Stiletto heels click along the sidewalk as she catches up on errands. “By Thursday, no later. It’s important we get those stock in. You heard me, Jas.” Dial tone. Chloe had become a queen of hanging up on people before their goodbyes were said. Walking along, she’s stopped by another blonde, only an android. “Anti android store you’re trying to get into?” As if there weren’t plenty of those around. “I don’t pay much attention to which stores are android friendly so it depends. What is it?”

“ Depends on the deviant in question. I tend to base my acceptance of a job on how dangerous the corrupted android is to the public rather than the payout for bringing them in, though. ”
“So you pretty much come close to a six figure annual salary.” Who knew such a simple job would come close to an income like hers. “Safe to say, I think you’re going to be pretty busy with the wave of violent androids here recently.”
