Environment: Photographic Research
Reflections interest and intrigue me in my environment as they can be seen almost everywhere and can create either a perfect mirror image of the surroundings or a distorted, abstract image. Reflections are in puddles, windows, mirrors, cutlery, the sky (rainbows), and many other instances in everyday life. I feel drawn to reflections as they can unintentionally create beautiful and artistic illusions. Drawing inspiration from my artist research of Kim Keever, who uses reflections in his photography, and Gerhard Richter – who uses reflection in a more symbolic manner, through his overpainted photographs – also led me to choosing this theme.
