The reason for this bullshit is that I can't remember the password for my account and the tumblr support cannot help me because... I can't access my old email anymore to retrieve the password link. It doesn't exist. My tablet is still logged in though and it's how this post was made.

There’s this Green Cheeked Conure at PetSmart that’s been there for a good while, I saw him at first a few months ago and a few days ago we went back and he was still there. I am so determined to get that little dude because he is the only one in the store, he’s in a cage all by himself, and I really miss having my bird buddies around. I’m coming for you little dude

I'm sure it's a heartbreaking sight to see a lonely bird locked in the cage at the pet store, but maybe you would want to think twice before purchasing it.

As you may know, birds are not exactly the easiest pets on earth and if I really wanted a conure or any bigger bird than a budgie, I would search for a responsible breeder. This bird has been locked in the cage for months, which tells me that he won't be very social or well-behaved towards humans. Correct me if I'm wrong, conure people...

But I don't recommend to buy any pet on a whim. 🤔

Hi there! I recently bought my first bird (a ten week old Budgerigar, from a breeder) and was wondering if you had any pointers on taming and training? No pressure if you can’t get back to me, just thought I’d ask!

Hello there~

If I would want to tame a budgie, I wouldn't let them have food available all the time. Meaning that they would have feeding times. Then you would be able to tell when they are hungry, for example at the morning.

When they are hungry, they are more motivated to search for food and you could try to offer them food from your hand. A millet would work fine here, since it's a treat.

Note that you should not starve your bird, it's not the point. The point is, that they are more motivated to get the food when they are hungry.

If you are familiar with the clicker training, you can use the click sound to mark the right behavior. That's very helpful. 👌🏻

But if you would want to be a good bird owner, you would get your baby bird a friend and not keep it alone. I hope you have considered that already. Make your bird happy. 💛
