So part of the attraction for self-deportation is that, if you leave voluntarily, you're eligible to apply to legally enter the country at a later date. If you're arrested and deported, you aren't. So, in theory, anyone who self-deports can be allowed to come back in legally. In practice, though, not everyone who wants to legally immigrate is allowed. And the process isn't fast. Considering Trump's ideas about immigration and his relationship with Elon Musk and Musk's interest in having highly skilled foreign workers prioritized in legal immigration, I doubt very many of these self-deportees will get back in under his administration. Even if the legal immigration process is updated or streamlined in some way, it will be done to fast track doctors and engineers and not day laborers who were in the country illegally until very recently.
