My Parents “Star Wars” marathon

For context, for the past several or so weeks, my parents and I had a movie night, and having been watching all the Star Wars movies in chronological order.

The thing is ? My parents went into the series blind, and my mom especially has a theorist thought process - I still remember her Game of Thrones takes from way back when. 

So I thought it’d be funny to showcase some of their takes and predictions across the series. It kind of makes me wonder what they’d be like if the got into the series in 2015 when theorizing was at its peak.

Prequel Trilogy

1. My mom is a pretty big Anakin Stan. 

2. She also caught onto the Jesus and Satan symbolism with Anakin and Palpatine.

3. When we watched the Phantom Menace, my mom was asking when Luke was gonna turn up, and intially thought he and Luke were brothers.

4. Attack of the Clones also made my mom’ an Anidala shipper. Not much to talk about there.

5. I think Yoda quickly became my parents favorite character; my dad kept talking backwards like him after AotC. It’s since calmed down, but my dad’s a bit of a jokester.

6. Revenge of the Sith. Among other things, my mom was genuinely surprised to find out Anakin Skywalker was Darth Vader.  My dad put it together pretty quickly.

7. Both my parents were genuinely surprised that Leia and Luke were twins. I had to remind them that no, it’s not gonna lead to any Jamie and Cersei stuff.

Spinoffs

1. Not much to talk about regarding Solo: A Star Wars story My mom wasn’t expecting Maul’s cameo, and liked that Emilia Clarke was in it (she’s a Daenerys stan).

2. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. My mom seems to think that Jyn and Cassian survived at the end. More on that bellow.

3. During Darth Vader’s hallway massacre (My Mom; “Why would he do this ? I thought he was gonna be a secret good guy.” Me: “You do remember the part where he massacred the younglings, right ?”)

Original Trilogy

1. A New Hope: My mom while Vader is interrogating Leia “So…does he know she’s his daughter ?”

2. Empire Strikes Back: Not much to talk about there, but my dad thought that Yoda went senile with age.

3. Return of the Jedi: Yoda’s death made my mom walk out of the room. To date, only three scenes made my my mom walk out the room on previous marathons, all three of them involving Ramsay Bolton.

Sequel Trilogy

1. My mom, as it turns out, is also a pretty big Kylo Ren/Ben Solo stan. She’s a steadfast Bendemptionist throughout the whole trilogy. So much so, she almost exclusively calls him Ben.

2. For some reason, my mom initially thought Kylo Ren was gonna be Rey’s father (”No you, get it. They’re connected, I just know it. He killed his father but he cannot kill his daughter!”) I didn’t know what to tell her, point out the actual age gap between them.

3. Up until Finn’s introduction, my parents thought the Storm Troopers were supposed to be robots.

4. As of The Last Jedi, my mom’s next theory was that Rey was the daughter of Jyn Eso. She held onto that one until Rise of Skywalker.

5. Finn and Poe are both my parents favorites.

6. Speaking of Rise of Skywalker, it would seem my dad is a Finnrey. He didn’t say much about it, I only found out after the kiss.

7. My mom…isn’t into Reylo in a romantic sense, but thinks they should have been “more like brother and sister”. Other than that, she likes them.

8. My mom thinks Kylo Ben should’ve be the one to kill Palpatine. 

9. My mom kinda sorta guessed who Snoke was upon seeing him (albeit in a “Half Right” sort of way)

They are currently awaiting for the release of Obi Wan, and in the meantime, I’m getting them into the Monsterverse.

fandom is a lot more fun when your goal isn’t to be “that big, popular account” within the fandom but just to have fun and talk about what brings you comfort and happiness by the way

Mind you, Zuko was trying to capture Aang and he sent an assassin to kill him. Yes, he should be grateful that Aang, a genocide survivor, he’s still a pacifist, he saved his life twice and forgave him.

Screaming Until Dawn chapter four is up: “A Conversation With Death”

Summary: A spin-off and midquel to Unlife is Strange, and part of The Fog of Worlds Saga.

In 2011, Kirby Reed pulled through a brush with death, and dreamt she was a girl named “Sam”. In 2015, Samantha Giddings pulled through a brush with death, and dreamt she was a girl named “Kirby”.

In 2016, both Kirby and Samantha have put those "dreams" behind them, and with the radical changes in their lives, tried to focus on their college career. But when an unfamiliar voice calls Sam “Kirby”, and Kirby “Sam” both girls set out on a mission to get to the bottom of these dreams. A mission that causes the lives of Kirby, Sam and their places in their world to blur, as something from beyond calls to them.

Authors Note: Once again, sorry for the long wait, and once again, this is another chapter I had to cut short. 

Luckily the other half is partially done, but I'm expecting the next one to be a two-parter. This one is admittedly more of a “talking” chapter, but I will talk about what to expect.

1. We are going into be looking a little more into the supernatural angle these current Ghostfaces' have.

2. I plan to include characters from the Life is Strange comics in this setting, and possibly Unlife is Strange proper. A few appearances are set in stone, but it's still in the idea stage. 

I also considered including Lost Records: Bloom and Rage cameos in later chapters, but this story's crossover roster is big enough.

3.  We're soon gonna drop switching between Sam and Kirby's perspective of events. Partially because it makes writing shorter, but also this is getting around the part where they really start seeing/experiencing each other's perspectives.

Luckily chapter five should be up by the weekend.

No content warning here because this is a more easy going chapter. I’m saving the nasty stuff for five and six.

Main pairings: Samily, Jessam, Jemily.

Secondary pairings: Chasemarsh, Pricefield, Gewey, M Squared.

Don’t quite have a pairing in mind for Kirby - about the only character I seriously pair her with is Sam Carpenter, who I thought about including but I’m not sure how without getting her stumbled with Giddings.
