Notes: Yuyu (Fishdoll) is a Chinese singer, songwriter, and prodcuer based in Bejing. For her debut album we enlisted the help of Chinese illustrator Daisy Peng to depict a female protagonist with a modern take on classic folk art motifs. The photography was made to echo the iridescent and energetic quality of Fishdoll's electro-soul music. This record screams Bjork meets Flying Lotus.

Notes: Since the discovery of their ability to paint, artists have naturally been fascinated by their hand, the hand that holds the brush – this is often the instrument of creation. The external point of manipulation to the outside world holds an infitnite amount of potential energy. This art was an exploration of the actions and expression of our most basic human tool. The hands depicted are the artist's.

Notes: Rugged Tranquility as a concept was a fun dichotomy I represented by debossing a diamond plate pattern on an umprinted jacket. White Album meets White Zombie.

Walking around my neighborhood a few months back, I noticed a Neighborhood Watch sign left on the porch of a vacant, run-down house. I found this somewhat darkly amusing: Could there be a less reassuring symbol of neighborhood watchfulness than a pilfered and abandoned Neighborhood Watch sign?
As I considered that question, I realized these signs are one of those stealth icons that periodically interest me — something that, through sheer repetition, we are all familiar with, even though we never stopped and thought about it explicitly.
While working on artwork for the "Bad Neighbor" series, I decided to use these signs as inspiration to integrate the "Bad Neighbor" skull character into.

Notes: Four Tet reimagined this cult classic album with MF DOOM and it's much more on the electronic audio spectrum than the original mixes. I'm a modular art fan and it seemed an apt way to represent a digital remix of the more organic original work.

Notes: Kiefer has an obsession with his polo shirts. I borrowed one to create the artwork. A permamnet clear stock sticker is adhered on back of jacket to resemble clothing stickers. Label sides are Size A and Size B.

Note: Baker's Dozen is a vinyl series that shines a spotlight on instrumental music and the personalities behind the craft. To commemorate the 13th release in series history, Fat Beats Records focused on thirteen of its most respected producers with the aptly titled compilation "Baker's Dozen: XIII".

Notes: Scotch is actually a reference to hop scotch and the playful nature of this album. I took that direction and made a simple hop scotch pattern with the cover typography. The line art is simple and carried the sketchy nature of the music as well.

Notes: Vhvl is a wildly talented minimal electronic producer who has a totally unique approach and sound. We discussed something born from another realm and I proposed we design this O-card to respenble an alien monolith.
