The matter is difficult to put into words. For fear, real fear, such as shakes you to your foundation, such as you feel when you are brought face to face with your mortal end, nestles in your memory like a gangrene: it seeks to rot everything, even the words with which to speak of it. So you must fight hard to express it. You must fight hard to shine the light of words upon it. Because if you don't, if your fear becomes a wordless darkness that you avoid, perhaps even manage to forget, you open yourself to further attacks of fear because you never truly fought the opponent who defeated you.

Fire and brimstone baby. This is the second time I’ve worked with a European rapper from a Syrian immigrant background, and I seldom come across such hard working and driven MC’s. These are screengrabs from Finnish rapper DAGGER D’s new video ‘LMB’. The young lyricist was recently signed to the home of many Finnish rap legends, 3rd Rail Music. Very stoked with how this music video eventually turned out. Four days before production, the producer dropped me along with the camera man and all their resources. I was gutted. I’d been hanging out with the actors, working on their backstories and trying to create an environment in which they’d feel comfortable and natural acting out this quite intense drama. They were ready to go and I felt if we didn’t shoot that weekend, the thing would fall apart. I popped on the producer hat, roped in a ton of favours and organised a haphazard talented bunch to crew the shoot. A massive thank you to all the people who came in at short notice to make this thing a reality! Enjoy watching it here.
