I really don't understand how "without getting kudos or comments a fanfiction author is going to assume that people who clicked their fic didn't like it" became a controversial take.
I don't know why some people think an author should imagine, or guess that people who click their fic enjoyed it it when nobody is telling them that.
If you're re-reading a fic constantly, or leaving it up in your tab so that it re-loads every day for a hundred days the author is not going to know that unless you tell them. They'd love to hear it. It would make their day.
And if you don't tell them you liked their fic, there's no reason for them to assume you did.

There’s a scientific journal called “Get me off Your Fucking Mailing List”.
In 2005, computer scientists David Mazières and Eddie Kohler created this highly profane ten-page paper as a joke, to send in replying to unwanted conference invitations. It literally just contains that seven-word phrase over and over, along with a nice flow chart and scatter-plot graph.
An Australian computer scientist named Peter Vamplew sent it to the International Journal of Advanced Computer Technology in response to spam from the journal. Apparently, he thought the editors might simply open and read it.
Instead, they automatically accepted the paper — with an anonymous reviewer rating it as “excellent” — and requested a fee of $150. While this incident is pretty hilarious, it’s a sign of a bigger problem in science publishing. This journal is one of many online-only, for-profit operations that take advantage of inexperienced researchers under pressure to publish their work in any outlet that seems superficially legitimate.

Just remembered when I was a child I found a christian webpage arguing that hydrothermal tube worms support the existence of hell because of something in the bible about hell having demonic worms in it that eat your soul and I wrote a lengthy angry email about how tube worms can't be connected to evil because they are beautiful gentle beings who cannot hurt anything and just sway peacefully forever sustained by the vent itself, the most innocent creature there coupd ever be.
They never responded to me so obviously I hope they DIED. fucking bastards !!!! 😡😡😡

On Our Knees (We Pray For Peace) by @chronictonsillitis
This art was made for and prompted by @chronictonsillitis to @t100fic-for-blm.
The donation for this prompt was made to the Community Justice Action Fund. The Community Justice Action Fund is a nonprofit organization building power for and with communities of color to end gun violence. CJAF is changing the conversation on gun violence prevention by leading with the people closest to the pain of everyday gun violence. Donate here.
As a reminder, our great initiatives is closing doors on April 30th. We currently stand at $9k raised, and we would love to make it to $10k. With the recent of the news, it is more important and evident than ever that our voices matter, our actions matter. Let’s make this a final push for t100ficforBLM and a continuous one for BLM to make a difference!!!
Wanna help BLM and get custom fanwork? Prompt us.
