so we know that the Express has perhaps not a consciousness, but definitely some kind of will, right? Dan Heng says that the data bank will start forming connections on its own once enough information has been entered, which is similar to how the human brain works.

so, I imagine Dan Heng treating the Data Bank like it’s his friend. He talks about it like it’s a person. He talks to it. He can tell how it’s feeling based on certain signals from the machinery. After all, the Express is the creation of an Aeon. It would be cruel of him to simply treat it as a thing he can use.
