Like most of the queercoded/ship bait-y moments in twst are lines that can be interpreted as flirtatious or particularly good chemistry between certain characters, so when twst introduces a new character to have chemistry with Sebek (a main character of the event) it’s like sure. Standard. And then the event progresses and you see parallels between the two and it’s like ok yeah ok twst I guess I could see it. And then suddenly it’s the climax of the story and they’re talking about how it has to be him to de-escalate and save him, and how he knew he’d be the one to reach him, and it’s like ok twst, hang on now. And now they’re quoting and paralleling the romantic subplot of the source film and it’s like twst wtf. And then he does save him and they continue to build this chemistry and it’s like twst wait, and then they’re LEAVING??? And the character is aware this is it and has to accept it and you’re going twst WAIT, and twst does not wait and now despite having his memory wiped, Sebek is searching for him in his absence, and now they’re back the school on Halloween and it’s revealed that despite presumably having his memory erased too, the character was so impacted by the event that he CHANGED THE WORLD over it, and that Sebek feels familiarity with him despite not knowing him. And you’re going TWST. SLOW DOWN. And twst still does not, so now you have the extra story content where Sebek is talking about Romeo and Juliet, a tragic love story between two teenagers, and is encouraging Sally to just tell Jack how she really feels because it’s better to not leave things unsaid, and you now know that he doesn’t know he’ll never see the event character again and therefore will fall into this trap himself and you’re now left with everything twst has just dumped on you because it’s over and this character is only semi-canon. Anyway you should play the tnbc event when it runs next.
