Took me forever but I finally finished @armiliadawn gift! Her OC's are so gorgeous, and I especially loved drawing Hikari! (the red panda mink on the right) Defo go check out Armilia's page for more lore on her OCs, and check out her other works as well! She's a hell of an amazing writer, and really sweet too!!

Just a little note: I now have wifi so I'm going to try and start posting from my tablet - just as an experiment for now because the colors on my tablet look a lot different than they do on mobile. I'll defo be prepping to make a ko-fi as soon as I'm done with my appreciation event; so commissions will be opening within a month or so!

I'm gonna go on a bit of a personal rant here, but it's a positive one. You can scroll away if you'd like, I just wanna express the immense happiness and gratitude I'm currently feeling :)

For some background:

Things have been rough for me personally since December, like hella rough. I lost my newest and oldest companion just a month apart from one another and was already in a bad place mentally to start with. I would elaborate more, but I want to keep things positive. It's kind of why I got back into art and writing. To escape.

Today, March 29, was the best day of my life. I didn't really do anything that big, just celebrated by bday with some fishing and cheese fries from Chili's. For the first time in a long time, though, I felt noticed.

Now, I usually don't like being the center of attention, especially not infront of more than one person, but I had happy birthday sung to me three times. As embarrassing as it was each time, I would live it all over again just to have the day with my friends and family like I did today.

The first (pre-fishing), my friends and siblings in law (who double as friends) surprised me with confetti and a cake. They sang the birthday jingle, chanted the classic "take a bite" in Spanish, and shoved my face into the cake. (Gently, I only got a little on my nose lol.) Then they gifted me with an absolute fuck ton of One Piece tcg packs (like ten, but that's still a lot to me), and a few other cute little gifts which I thoroughly enjoyed. (One is a hat that says "Women want me, Fish fear me" and I'm never taking it off I love it so much.)

Then, at Chili's, we all had some bussin ass food and enjoyed each other's company. This was one of the parts that really made me happy, because my childhood friend who had only met my other friends twice (friends I made through my in-laws), finally broke the ice with each other. Like, they were making jokes back and forth and comfortable. It made me so happy to see some of my favorite people enjoying each other's company. I can't really begin to describe why, it just did. (I unfortunately had to endure the public embarrassment of the staff singing happy bday to me for the second time, but it was well worth it to see my friends comfortable and enjoying the moment.)

And the third time. This... How do I put this? My relationship with my blood relatives is very unstable. Most of the time, I feel like a shadow or old photo around them- glanced at then quickly forgotten. But apparently my sister called my fiance yesterday and planned a mini surprise party for me. She made my favorite pasta from scratch, bought me a tres leches cake, and most of all, it was dinosaur themed.

This might seem like an insignificant detail, but it meant the world to me. You see, my favorite thing in the entire world when I was a kid (from what little I can remember) was dinosaurs. I had a huge collection of those cheap plastic ones from the dollar store. I owned all the Jurassic Park VHS tapes, as well as the land before time tapes (I actually found one in storage recently). Hell, I even had a robot T-Rex (that I was terrified of as a kid. Still have it though). Bear in mind, I hadn't talked about anything I liked with my sister or mom in years.

But it was such a small thing, yet it meant so much to me because my older sister remembered my birthday, remembered my favorite food, and remembered I loved dinos (still do. Dragons, too.)

To add to it, my mom and sister were in a room for a whole two hours and we all TALKED. No bickering, no arguing. We reminisced on memories, picked on my nephew a bit, and really enjoyed time with each other. (My nephew even remembered I went through a stitch phase and got me a little keychain. I don't like stitch anymore, but you bet your ass that keychain is going on my keys.)

I know to most people stuff like this is normal. The last time I celebrated my birthday with my family I was 16. I'm 23 now. And, back then, it was all more for show than for me. But, even my redneck ass (I say this lovingly) mom and sister got me One Piece stuff. They have no clue what it is, but they got it because I like it.

I feel so selfish being happy that people pay attention to me and care about me enough to know what I like, but it's never really happened until now. I could give plenty of examples of how my childhood sucked and why, however trauma dumping isn't my thing. (I sneak my trauma dumping into my writing lmao jk jk or am I)

I don't know how to describe it other than it feels so nice to be heard and seen rather than just seen. I bawled my eyes out on the way home from my sister's house out of pure platonic love. (I'm still crying as I write this 🥲) I'm just honestly so happy. Life has felt like shit lately with everything going on, and that little spark inside me was nothing more than a speck of dust, but these little things here and there today really cradled it and blew it back to life.

I'm sorry if this doesn't make much sense to anyone, but I just felt the need to project how special the people in my life are to me. They're my entire world. Just being with them today made me so ecstatic, but the fact that they went so far out of their way to do all that for me just.... Words really can't describe it. Amazing, lovely, relieving, joy, happiness, etc. They're not enough to describe how I feel.

I'll be doing my absolute best to make it up to them tenfold, but yeah. Thank you for staying for my rant.
