Process
While my video is encoding i will tell you my process. This time i used my glitching technique to glitch a video i recorded in the class room last friday. this video had lots of flat light and cool blue and red effects from the computer mice. I also stretched 4 game play clips of the game destiny on ps4 with the recording option on the playstation. due to all the gadgets on the game play videos I resized and moved around the video clips to cut out the gadgets.
this video is 8 compositions re affected videos over itself. to make the video more interesting i split the video in half and made it swap sides and cut up every 2 seconds and moved them to different places. next i made a new composition and rotated the last video 160 and -170 and scaled them by 150-180% with 36% transparency to try to remove the line in the middle of the sceen.
after this i inverted the colours and flipped the footage again over a copy to make the current video.
still 18 minutes to gooooo........

Talking to any last week, he spoke to me about not exploring enough with this assignment. Due to the fact that i have been trained as a designer when i see an assignment like this one i see it as a problem that needs a solution. which can cause a lack in experimentation. In my last project with the load screens in the game of ping i was in need of more load screens so i found two free bits of software. the first one was cam recorder which only filmed 150px by 150px, which wasn't large enough for my loading bars that i was going to use for my score bars. The second one was Xsplit game caster, which only worked within games.
In the video above is a glitch video which is made from four compositions. i used my ping video as a alpha mat on two Hunter x Hunter 1 minute clips. then to create glitching i used chroma keying to remove the most common and least common colours in these videos.
in the next composition I used an audio clip from a failed video i made a couple of weeks ago and colour panels in the background to fill in the holes for the chroma keying.
after creating this composition I placed it over itself then increased size and made the video move around and made the above layers Vivid light, screen effect and overlay with 20-30% transparent to generate the above video.
it is a cool home made glitch with glitched audio and visuals and i liked the fact that i could keep my first video to glitch out the first part of this video.

LOL cats
This week in class we looked at LOL cats and how they have become a big part of the internet to a point that they are considered a virus. due to the fact that one person likes a lol cat video or image and everyone of their friends becomes infected all over their news feeds

^There is a link to my first test for assignment 3
issues:
ball wasn't round (so just made it a square, actually ended up saving me some work)
ball was a bit to small (made the square bigger but made the same edge hit the same things as the original)
ball has ease in and ease out for easier game play (just apply easy ease to key frames when all the main frames have been placed)
collected load screens only last 25 seconds (collect more screens and or re use some)

The Plan
For my final video idea I want to use a subject that I am highly interested, so relating to a hobby of mine or commenting on something I highly dislike. All right ready for the list of hobbies I have: Anime Comic books of anime (manga) Redrawing anime for a wallpaper.
One of the things I dislike a lot lately is the Internet speed of Australia. To compare our Internet speed to other countries I’m going to use the first American pie movie as an example. Sometime in the middle of the video they manage to stream an activity on the computer to other computers in the suburb. Ok this film was filmed in the 90s…… now in 2015 in Australia we still are having problems uploading and downloading to the internet with the same quality as this video from the 90s. Due to waiting for videos I often see loading screens. So I decided to collect a super cut of loading screens. This video in itself would be awesome because the audience would be waiting for the content, which would be awesome, but I don’t feel like I would be using my technical skills. I am in my last couple weeks of university so I would like to be able to create content that would look good in a portfolio and shows all of my video editing skills.
So from influence from the YouTube game snake I decided to create a ping with the ball as a loading screen. Technical issues: No recording software on my pc’s (solution collect footage at uni with QuickTime) How to use loading screens in a game of ping (use them as the ball) When should loading screen swap? (when ball hits (loading creens run for different times matching them up would be extra work so use one run of the load screen don’t let it loop)) How to keep each load screen as the same size (use a circle mask and make the ball the same size as the smallest load screen) Score boards (use loading bars) How to start (use a load screen to make the viewers think that the video isn’t working then have commands pop up on the screen) How to end it (doesn’t have to end in theory a game is made to be played over and over again) How to collect the movements of each player without hitting into copyright (use screen capture on phone and download an app and vs an AI)

Final video idea
A couple of weeks ago i was frustrated with a loading screen, then i started to think why i was waiting for the load. “how much time do i spend looking at loading screens each day?”
This is when i decided to collect loading clips and play them all as my final video. sure this is “arty” enough to get a pass but i would feel like i was being lazy. so i continued my brainstorming, then i was reminded of the 2007 game of snake on youtube. where a user could play a game while waiting. So i decided to create a game this these loading screens, my first thought was ping because it was one of the first video games and it could be said that it is one of the mothers of gaming.
so i record a game of ing on my phone played by me and use loading bars as the the ball that changes every hit and for the score board have bar loading screens.
I presented this idea to Andy, he didn't seem impressed by it. But i will continue on because i rather show him my skills then do something arty and easy.

Glitching is getting lost and find your own path
The cool thing about glitching is that you can get lost with your work then find your own path for the final product rather than following instructions. which means that new ideas of artworks could be found.

Ufotable > Glitching
In class andy suggested using anime for glitching because it always worked out well with dragon ball and other fighting anime. So me being me the anime nerd i went and got a clip from Ufotable’s fate zero from 2012-2013. this anime looks so amazing that they are giving a budged big enough to buy a small 3rd world country.
I realize now that this didn't work because unlike other anime this anime is super detailed so there is no flat colour so when glitching it was harder to pick up colours to glitch this can also be seen by the fact it took over 10 minutes to remove I frames form a 20 second clip

Define glitch
By definition a glitch is an unwanted malfunction or fault of equipment. So what is an intentional glitch called then? Wanted glitches are a wonderful way of making boring clips interesting by pulling one scene into the next by recycling pixels.

The idea of a clock that changes colour with the time is an awesome idea, imagine someone asking you the time and you reply somewhere in the light blues. i think an actual product like this would bring life to everyday life and give new meanings to colours.
Processing the Program, my new Pass time
In class we also learnt how to use Processing, a really cool and simple to use java coder. In class we made an RGB clock and IT WAS THE COOLEST THING EVER!! I am in love with it and it’s amazing, and my favourite colour is just as it hits 4:15pm. It’s so amazing all the beautiful and interesting things you can do with Processing, and it’s also made me actually want to do my coding assignment for my other unit.

Algorithm the master of Symmetry
The best thing and the worst thing about using algorithm’s to generate works is that we try to aim for symmetry. Unlike analog art works, using a computer program that uses words to generate images can cause users/artist to keep redrawing the same thing over again over being happy with the work and moving on and building something new. Algorithm is like a curse it causes us to never be happy with what we have we just end up giving up.

After Life
I think it would be cool to record myself saying every english word then using it for a after life AI program that is recorded with my personal responses and a 3d texture of my head. If third life programs lasted for 100s of years people could talk to their ancestors which would be interesting because you could compare cultures and how the language has changed.
