Blurb for a scene spatializing water.
Water covers the majority of earth that we experience everyday of our lives. Whether we need to use it for our healthy needs, or explore the possibilities that water offers. When we experience water, our perception decides whether it will be positive or negative. So referring to my bathhouse, I want to ensure people are coming into my bath house with the correct mindset so they can enjoy their time there. Due to the different reactions of people, I want to encourage them to try out the different scenarios that my pools are placed in. From there, they can decipher which pool they feel most comfortable in and just relax in the time being. The purpose of my bath house is to neglect the negative experiences people have and allow them to bathe in pools with a new, open-mindset to which heals their spirits and relaxes any tension that they have.

Finally completed my prototype bathhouse, featuring the materials that I have observed when I visited our site. My model shows the separation between light and dark; what materials are exposed to sunlight and hidden beneath the shadows. I have extended the previous model because I think that space is an important factor and I realise people need their personal space. I am satisfied with the product I have created, but obviously I need to add more for a well-designed bathhouse that fulfils my concept idea.

Only the beginning of the process of creating my bathhouse. I will be adding materials and wallpaper that I’ve found on the site. Also extending the building that I was given to create the “Dark theme” portion of my bathhouse. This is just a prototype so it looks scuffed.

Visited the location where I would be designing my bathhouse, and took notes on the materials on site that I could potential use to build the bathhouse. I’m also considering the area and space available to me and adding my ideas to fulfil my concepts that I have created.

Pebbles; bought from a local store and will be used as part of my design process. They are a representation of stones I would be using as a decorative material used for the public to admire. The purpose of this is to correspond to materials hidden from the sunlight that shines onto the building. My concept is to propose a shadowed bath house where privacy is very prominent and the only sources of light would be from LEDs inside and natural light. My main plan is to use a variety of materials that are located on the site and only use those who are hidden in the shadows.
What I also want to do is implement life into my design. Adding plants to create a warm atmosphere and enlighten those who enter my bath house. What I found in my backyard were these flower pedals of some sort that look appealing; Vibrant colours and the size of my palm. Although I want to make a dark theme bath house. There needs to be some sort of life, I want people to come into and out of my bathhouse feeling relieved and uplifted. Bringing nature to my design would make it more welcoming, and bring good energy towards people using the bathhouse.

Visited a mossy site; WAI ARIKI. Despite it’s small surface area, it was interesting to see nature grow on the walls. The concept of spring is very prominent here in this space as you can see the element of water flowing in the drain and through the pipe. The greenery of this space is vibrant and stood out, for the public to admire.

Materials list that I inspire to use for my bathhouse. A lot of considerations I have to make in order my bath house to not be a dangerous hazard or not fulfil the qualifications of a typical bath house.

This is my 4th model in response to my experience with water. It’s suppose to absorb any source of water such as the rain and the sprinkler in the photo. The aspects of blue is to symbolize water and how it correlates together as one.

This is the beginning of my design project. The three models I’ve made are in response to my experience with water or how I perceive it. The idea behind these models are just a representation of a bath house I will be designing for my final project. These models gives a sense of relief and regeneration which is my target aim when creating my final model.

Took photos of my cushion in my allocated spot the other day. Turned out looking how I imagined with my design matching the nature of the park. Here I’ve shown the practical aspects of what you could do with my cushion other than sitting on top of it.

In the process of making my 1:10 model, trying to use different materials but still produce an identical model of my 1:1 cushion. I used my old eraser that I ripped apart to get these strips. My plan is to glue them together to combine them to create a donut.

Finally completed the making of my cushion, was satisfied with the outcome and the design of it too. The reasoning behind the design will be specify in detail in the description. In short, I wanted to make an amusing cushion that is used for not only sitting on, but to use as a Frisbee for kids.
