Last solstice ended in heartbreak for Elain and Azriel, forces beyond their control kept them apart once they decided to act on the feelings growing between them. But Elain can picture their next one together, happily celebrating with their friends and family without keeping to the shadows.

Thank you so much @aurithemoon for bringing this beautiful piece to life. We couldn’t decide on which idea to go with, so when we decided to try merging the 4 ideas into one comic strip, you took it and made it better then we imagined 💕 We absolutely love how you draw Elain and Azriel, and look forward to working with you again 🥹🫶🏼

The best kind of fairytales come from the magic we make in our day to day lives, finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.

And I think it would be more of a fairytale come true to Azriel that someone loved him so much they chose him over a mating bond, that someone loved him for simply who he is and not out of an obligation to fate.

For this piece, I imagined an afternoon spent in the garden, enjoying each other’s company when Elain comes upon a kaleidoscope of butterflies. They flutter around Elain as Az looks on in wonder at this beautiful life he shares with her, and discreetly sends out his shadows to give Elain wings of her own. 🦋

I was so lucky to have the @thesleepingfoxy bring this to life for me! She captured the wonder and magic and playfulness so brilliantly in this piece it left me breathless! Mary, you are an absolute angel for this🌸

Elriel Month | Peace and Quiet

There is such tenderness, intimacy, and safety when you can understand the person you love without words. For this prompt we imagined the relief that Azriel and Elain would feel as they fall into bed together at the end of the day after enjoying the extroverted company of the inner circle, so they can cling to each other for peace and quiet just like our High Lady foretold.

We were all so excited to get the opportunity to work with @kotikomori on this piece and she truly gave us a little peek into a slice of Elriel heaven!! We are so grateful @kotikomori! 💕💕

There’s a kind of love that doesn’t need to be loud. It exists in glances, in quiet rooms, in the soft peace of simply being seen.

That’s Elain and Azriel.

He is the love that would trump a mating bond, the choice that defies fate. And she is the love that makes his shadows still... and his mind go quiet.

No pretending. No posturing. Just two souls who see each other for who they are not what they are.

And choose each other anyway.

Because sometimes, true love isn’t destiny. It’s peace. And that is the most powerful kind of magic.

I’m always a sucker for some Elriel having a sweet picnic out in nature together! I’ve wanted to work with @emsdrawsthings for a while on this idea, and she created such a beautiful piece for @elriel-month ! Here’s our pookies enjoying some time in the garden with Elain’s baked goods, including the best dessert of all time (scientifically proven!) red velvet cake, my personal favorite! Peace & Quiet

Azriel, graceful as any courtier, offered her an arm. I couldn’t tell if she was looking at his blue Siphon or at his scarred skin beneath as she breathed, “Beautiful.”

Color bloomed high on Azriel’s golden-brown cheeks, but he inclined his head in thanks and led my sister toward the back doors into the garden, sunlight bathing them.

A peek into Elain and Azriel finally getting their chance at their peace and quiet.

A favorite headcanon of mine is Azriel carrying Elain over the threshold of the townhome, but now as husband and wife- finally achieving their hard-won peace and quiet. The immeasurable joy Azriel feels at finally having the love of his life- his wife- in his arms, in their home, knowing she chose him. The relief and peace Elain feels in those arms now that she’s finally with the person who sees her for who she truly is, and did not turn away, did not give up on her. Despite the fact they are both reserved people, they can’t help the joy that is bubbling over.

HUGE thank you to @/iinnevvitable for bringing this concept to life for me! You were an absolute angel to work with, every update had me giggling and kicking my feet, this was truly such a joy from start to finish!

I’m hoping to get many soft and intimate moments between Elain and Azriel in their book and in this commission, I wanted portray the moment Elain spends the night in Azriel’s bed for the first time. After spending months staring at Elain’s gift with longing throughout the night, Azriel is finally able to worship Elain in his bed till sunrise. They are each other’s soft place to land and in each other’s arm, they’re truly at peace.

I have been obsessed with Elizabeth’s work for years now and I’m so grateful I got the chance to work with her! She is so incredibly talented and truly delivered a masterpiece 🥹 Thank you so much for creating this for me!

Elriel Month 2025 🌸 Prompt: Peace & Quiet

This was such a wonderful commission, and I am so grateful to my co-commissioners for helping me make this happen—and to @tpiola_ (IG) for working on this with us! We had a hard time finding a good reference at first, and she was so kind and helpful in translating a verbal description to this gorgeous art! Thank you a million times over!

We really wanted to capture the comfortability Elain and Azriel have always had, even from their first meeting. I’ve always thought that both Elain and Az would be great huggers, so what better to commission for the @elrielmonth Peace & Quiet prompt than the two of them in an adorable embrace. 🥰 The soft purple-pink dusk setting is so perfect for Elriel, and I’m honestly never recovering from how adorable they are in this art!

Azriel and Elain share the secret language of silence. Their love lingers in the fleeting brushes of fingers, the flickering of eyes, their unwavering commitment to protect each other. They didn't need words when they rescued each other in Hybern's war camp. They didn't need words to communicate that they saw each other's pain and desire on solstice. They just needed each other, and the peace and quiet they find together. I can't wait to see them linger in the comfortable silence together, speaking their own silent language of love.
