On Wednesday, Citibank revealed in a court filing that it was told to freeze Habitat for Humanity’s bank accounts, at the FBI’s request. The reason? The FBI alleges that the group is involved in “possible criminal violations,” including “conspiracy to defraud the United States.” Habitat for Humanity, you may recall, is the group that builds low-income houses in America’s communities. Jimmy Carter worked with them for decades. What did they do to earn the FBI’s ire? They received a climate grant from the Biden administration’s EPA. Other nonprofits also being targeted by the FBI for receiving climate grants include the Appalachian Community Capital Corporation, the Coalition for Green Capital, and the DC Green Bank. Yet these groups’ applications for government grants for environmental work were fully reviewed and accepted by the Biden administration’s EPA. This is not fraud. It’s targeted harassment. And it will be viewed that way by most Americans.

Rally detour
This sprint (ending Friday) included a quick look at the "rally_workshop" project (pyral based) which I haven't touched in... a very long time. If you'd asked me about this three weeks ago, I'd not have remembered it. However, at least one of the prospective job opportunities listed "pyral" among the nice-to-haves. Initially, I didn't recall but after looking it up, the light bulb went on... and I still have the repo!
Short version: It DOES still work, and CAN get to the Rally sandbox instance, at least thru UI credentials (api access didn't work initially on a quick and dirty try). The prototype workshop app was able to identify the two projects and various new user stories related to the Scorem project, so that's a success. Quickly noted, pyral package for python was last updated on pypi fairly recently (2024), another good sign.
Next week, will try messing with the API access and seeing if I can make some sense of the rest of it again. Another fun toy - glad someone is still using it!

Trump and Vance really put the tyrant in tantrum, didn't they? Pathetic. Weak, cowardly, sniveling little bullies is all that they are.
I understand that I'm just one person who voted against all of this. I understand that this is just my Tumblr thingy. I understand that when the history of this is written, I will not even be a footnote.
But it is still important to me to go on the public record: The way Trump and Vance treated the President of Ukraine was despicable. It was a betrayal of an ally that is fighting for its very existence. As an American, I am disgusted with the rulers of my country. I am disgusted with their supporters, who ought to be ashamed of themselves.
To the people of Ukraine, I am so sorry. 75 million of us did everything we could to stop this. but there is a white supremacist cancer in America's blood, and the 2024 election confirmed that it has metastasized. For what it's worth, I stand with you, as I stand against the tyrants who disrespected your president today.

Oh no. MAGA is mad that the NYT shared the names of DOGE staffers. Don’t share this! Would be a shame

If a portfolio fails in the woods, did it ever have content?
Wow. Just realized that I'd created a public GitHub portfolio and never populated it with anything. Whoops. Well, at least I don't have to worry about stale content. :) https://github.com/cjstaples/portfolio

Score one for packages!
Python package “scoremipsum” is now live in production Pypi. Still in a prerelease form - version 0.0.4 currently - but wanted to get the name secured.
Tried contacting the fellow who published the original name three years back. Will give him a chance to update but I’d certainly like it.
Sent out updates to the package review folks. Let’s see what we can see. Got some things to add still, before we’re really ready for a release. Plus it’s my first real package and surely needs a lot of TLC.

Rally the troops
It's weird, but I think taking time to put my dev stories into the Rally test instance has helped me focus a touch. Since it's just me managing the tasks, it seemed like it would just be an exercise, taking up time but producing little beyond Rally hands-on refresh time and some usable Rally test data. However, I'm finding it helpful in carving a path toward completing not only the ongoing SC*M work, but also other dev tasks like Python utils and C# / .NET training. Glad that Broadcom lets me keep the test instance going for the pyral work. This will help with that data when I get to pick that project back up.
Speaking of SC*M, moving toward the initial release process. Have gotten in touch with a half-dozen different folks for package review work, and have started writing up the pre-release doc. Still a bit of work to do first, but should get initial version out to PYPI within a few days.

"IQI" is now "Irregular Developments"
I liked the IQI name - still do - but it has never really encouraged me to post... as might be obvious. Furthermore, for me the "Irregular Developments" name is more appropriate for today's content. Going to try to keep a stream of thought going for some ongoing projects.
Though honestly, the current job market for many software people is indeed... pretty IQI.

IQI is...
IQI is verifying the same set of fixes for the fourth time because the delivery artifact and/or process keeps changing. Isn't software fun and elegant?
