gripping the fabric of her skirt tightly, as if that was enough to get rid of the nerves racking her frame, lucy tried to smile at the other girl. ahhhh, this was so awkward, but also she had been dared to do this. (not specifically with the sabertooth mage, but hey, it made a good excuse if this crashed and burned.) "umm, hey, yukino-chan? would you like to... maybe... i dunno, grab a hot chocolate at some time? maybe go stargazing? with me, i mean!"
Eyes wide, Yukino fought a blush as Lucy continued on - was… Was she being asked on a date? It certainly seemed that way. Why else would Lucy seem so nervous about asking her to join her for hot chocolate? Had her awkward flirting finally paid off? She scratched the back of her neck and bit her lip to hide her grin, nodding, ❝Yes, of course! I’d… Really like to join you, for hot chocolate and stargazing.❞

lucy cannot make another contract with aquarius, due to her sacrifice and breaking of aqua’s key. while, yes, she is keeping an ear out for word of the golden key’s reappearance, it’s more so she can pass it along to yukino, as she trusts the saber mage to be a good mistress for her former spirit.
but the price she paid to summon the celestial spirit king, the price of aqua’s key, means that she cannot be that anymore.
