Hello! I read your lovely observations of the cursed and the effects of the visitor and have been inspired! I have been doing my own research (over-analyzing this game bc the fixation hath consumed my soul) and want to post my own thoughts on the subject....would that be ok with you?

( I dont wannt it to sound like I'm plagerizing or anything as some of my theories are similar and just want to get the ok with you sorry for the wall of text)

Hello all of my wonderful apartment neighbors to more of my rambling! This is a short one because I think I might’ve thought of something else.. while it’s not a perfect explanation it certainly helps out a bit.

The infectious curses, or affecting other people with your own, are based off of INTENTION.

Fully sentient intention or not!

Other creatures can bash and mangle people all they want but they really only stay bashed and mangled, yes?

Well! I was thinking and .. well now it’s 11:39 PM so I can’t ponder too long but..

He willingly begins to ‘improve’ people! It is his intention. Like how Joel’s dad had the intention to ‘grow his daughter’s beautiful teeth’.

If only I could go further in depth.. I completely forgot to talk about the landlord domain expansion in my previous post. Silly me! Well it’s almost midnight and I must sleep .. farewell neighbors!! My pondering will be fully updated by tomorrow!

Oh! Hello there! It seems I’ve been gone for quite some time …

Now I can hear you through this black mirror I possess and you may believe that my absence was due to doing such archaic things as.. “research” so I don’t sound “crazy”. Whatever either of those words mean.

Unfortunately! I am merely lazy! And my power keeps going out..

Judging by your fifty something voted the people have demanded that I speak my mind about the cursed!! Obviously, seeing as I am a very human scholar with the normal amount of arms. Yes.

Look Outside: My Personal Analysis of the cursed and cursing.

Now, let’s square away some things that we know for absolutely certain.

Looking outside causes cursing. Hence the name of our beloved game. But it’s not merely the act of looking outside, it’s the act of looking at THE VISITOR.

The visitor is a cosmic entity beyond our comprehension so I can’t really explain WHY cursing happens but I do know what can influence it.

In game some things are made clear, some of the cursed are personal, while others are spreading infections. What causes it to be infectious well?..

I have absolutely no clue!

The pipes, teeth, rats and mushrooms really have no explanation to why they’re the ones that can infect other people!! Should we assume that all of the cursed can do this? How does this work for the wackier ones like the taxidermies? Can they turn people into them? How on gods green earth do those things work anyway?! Is it because they’re part animal or-

…

I’m getting off track.

Cursing, in ways other than infection seem to be based off a few different things.

Mental state.

Close proximity to objects or things.

And what you’re thinking about.

It seems people who are inherently able to control themselves better and maintain calm retain many of their mental faculties while cursed, case in point Hellen. Who I can only assume due to her relaxed manner really just shrugged off being cursed in the first place.

If you can center yourself then it seems the changes are very minimal.

Cursing also can fuse objects to you, like Mr Panopticon in the security room or the cars just in general. This is.. another one I can’t really be too sure of. It seems to just choose yes or no randomly on if you’re getting fused to something or not. But maybe it’s connected to..

What you’re thinking about! If you’re prone to panicking, and driving your car and you think to yourself ‘God I love my car!’ Then suddenly an apocalyptic event happens and you happen to look upwards, you’d fuse right to your car!

Fusing isn’t an exact science here but your thoughts definitely are.

Lyle is a photographer, he probably thinks about it very frequently right? It seems when the curse isn’t about infection so to speak then it defaults to the persons thoughts. He becomes a bunch of cameras!

Leigh falls under this as well and is a pretty interesting thought. I don’t think Leigh was necessarily thinking hard about becoming some giant smiling evil creature, I think it was moreso a subconscious desire that was unearthed by being cursed.

This one explains things like Lyle and Edwin quite well, because Edwin clearly didn’t fuse with a fuckton of telescopes, where would he even get that many?

So yes! To boil it down, when you’re cursed it depends on three things!

How incredibly chill you are, maybe sometimes things around you, and what your thoughts or latent desires are.

Something something Sams failed ritual ending having a lot of eyes something something OCD paranoia manifestation something something..

Aahh..

Unfortunately I’m not too sure what else to ramble about, so any further scholarly pursuits will be brought upon on by your comments!!

Hello there neighbors! It’s me, Cleaner again, I do hope my total of two posts haven’t caused anyone to gain a vendetta against me that can only be solved via violent and sudden combat.

I might lied about these so called.. Hellen and Leigh headcanons of mine. Well I mean they’re THERE (their) but I’ve decided that I should adhere to some rudimentary order! And that order well..

Starts with Sam.

Yes it’s true, I simply must begin with our lovable main character. Behold my headcanons!

- Sam has OCD or some other anxiety disorder. I will forever love anyone else who decides this the moment they lock eyes with that poor, sopping wet pathetic man. There are plenty of times in the game where he is the overthinker! His thoughts tend to wander.. to thoughts of doom and such! Or worrying about murdering a poor tooth family.

- Sam has very very present intrusive thoughts, as part of the whole OCD package. You know those dialogue options where he’s kind of evil? Like telling Sophie that playing outside during the world ending apocalypse, in the game don’t look OUTSIDE is sort of damning. I believe that Sam would never really do this, it’s just one of many actively terrible intrusive thoughts. And I don’t mean like random thoughts I mean like him sitting on his couch randomly thinking ‘I could strangle everyone in here’. Before freaking himself out enough to go hide in the bathroom for like seven hours.

- Less serious headcanon but he has so much unspoken rizz. The ugliest unemployed man you know has like seventeen stalkers, they all want that fat man.

- Sam is actually very good with kids although he doubts himself. Maybe he’s considered adopting before when he actually was able to bring himself to work, but he’s too worried about being the cause for some poor child’s misery. Though when it comes to the apocalypse he’s able to push past these doubts because he genuinely wants to keep them safe, no matter how much that Rat Baby may disgust him at first..

- He is surprisingly nimble, and pretty efficient in combat. Like when you look at someone like Hellen it doesn’t surprise you that she can kick ass, but.. Sam? I’ve always thought some people in the apartment would ask about this, probably Dan, and Sam would wave it off with a ‘I had a free certificate for a month of karate’ or something like that.

Ahh.. just glanced up at the clock that’s not on my wall at all! Seems im out of time!
