Jakarta, CNN Indonesia -- Pengamat keamanan siber Alfons Tanujaya mengingatkan soal bahaya yang mengintai jika pengguna nekat menggunakan VPN. Penggunaan VPN tengah marak dilakukan pengguna internet di Indonesia untuk mengakali aturan pembatasan akses media sosial oleh pemerintah. Berikut tiga bahaya yang mengintai pengguna jika menggunakan VPN untuk memudahkan akses layanan media sosial seperti WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, dan Twitter. 1. Pencurian data Alfons menyebut penggunaan layanan VPN untuk menembus pembatasan akses pemerintah berpotensi terjadi pencurian data pengguna yang ada di ponsel. Terutama jika layanan VPN yang digunakan tidak terpercaya. ketika ponsel terhubung dengan server penyedia VPN, pemilik server sejatinya bisa melihat seluruh isi lalu lintas data pada ponsel yang terhubung. "Pada prinsipnya kerja (VPN) sama kayak proxy server. Apapun yang lewat proxy server bisa diliat oleh pemilik proxy," jelasnya, saat dihubungi via sambungan telepon, Rabu (22/5). Data yang diambil bisa berupa data yang ditransmisi selama ponsel terhubung, seperti mengekstrak komunikasi, mencuri data username (nama pengguna), password (kata kunci), data finansial, dan data penting lain. 2. Disusupi malware Perangkat ponsel yang terhubung ke sembarang VPN juga berisiko disuntikkan malware. "Disusupi malware bisa dilakukan dengan menyelipkannya ditengah jalan. Kalau (ponsel) sudah disisipi malware, dia bisa ngapain aja, jadi resikonya cukup tinggi," lanjutya. Lihat juga: Pembatasan Akses Media Sosial Disebut Sesuai UU ITE 3. Membuat profil pengguna Alfons menjelaskan proses membuat profil pengguna ini kasusnya mirip dengan Cambridge Analytica yang membuat profil pengguna dari data Facebook. Lewat profiling ini, menurut Alfons penjahat siber bisa membuat peta kebiasaan kita dan dimanfaatkan untuk mengarahkan opini si pengguna. "Kalau (VPN) dipakai dalam jangka waktu lama profil kita bisa ketahuan. Misal ketahuan kita suka otomotif, pilihan politik seperti apa, bisa disalahgunakan kayak kasus Cambridge Analytica," tandasnya.

I was watching Sherlock Holmes last night and I always try to look at things from a different angle ( one of my bad habits ). And I realized there's a lot you can learn from Sherlock holmes 🕵️ . _ He observes the shit out of people and deduce things like who the person is, where he is from, what he does and a lot more by just looking at the person. It's fiction but this is a skill you want to have because you will be doing a lot of Information gathering and social engineering throughout your hacking career. _ What you should look for as a kick ass hacker 👁‍🗨 : ⏺️IP addresses and sub domains - identify the net ranges and sub domains associated with your target. ⏺️People - names, emails, phone numbers, social media profiles for pretexting, phishing and other social engineering activities. ⏺️Technologies - types and versions of systems and softwares ( observe job postings, file extensions, server responses etc ) _ What you should do now - practice your reconnaissance skills and rinse and repeat the process until it becomes second nature ( Advice I got from @hackz3r - practice until it becomes second nature). Try your hands on OSINT framework. And watch Sherlock holmes ( the movie) this weekend if you haven't, I know you want to thank me for the movie suggestion, then Do it lol, and yeah money ball is good movie too.
