like the only thing you have in common with all of these people is that you like the same thing, that doesn’t indicate anything about general attitudes or what you want to get out of your media engagement experience. i love star trek but i’m for the serious metanalysis and gay stuff, i have nothing in common with the average reddit meme poster or people who only care about shipping so they may as well not exist to me 99% of the time. they’re about as far away from me socially as bluey fans

also i do think the idea of any given fandom as a cohesive community has done far more damage than it’s worth lol

perhaps this is because i mainly post about niche podcasts + the least popular 90s trek and for the most part my internet ethos is that tweet that’s like the ideal fandom experience is one where it’s you and your ten mutuals and nothing else matters. idk what y’all have got going on though that shit sounds stressful!!
