#rocketthedog rocking his new #yellowdogs harness patches to tell the world he's a bit nervous. It's the #littledogs that worry him the most - having been set upon many times as a very submissive puppy he isn't taking it anymore #reactivedogsuk #germanwirehairedpointer #gwpofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/B1JC5m0DWAV/?igshid=1x0gszoz41pn3

Meet Rocket

This is Rocket! He is a German Wirehaired Pointer and he joined our family on May 5th 2018. He is a fun filled bundle of sharp teeth, claws and hilarity at life.
Why a GWP? Lots of people have asked us this. They’re not exactly a common breed down the park. In fact we did a 460 mile round trip to collect Rocket! They are not a dog that you often see in towns and cities, but as a working gundog…

The house has been quiet...
The house has been quiet…
Five months since we lost our gorgeous girl and the house still seems quiet.
Life goes on, but the space she occupied is still here. It grabs me when I least expect it and makes me catch my breath.
But I remember, I smile through my tears at what you and laughter she brought to our family.
I miss you Pops x

What we will miss...
What we will miss…
Her singing.
Her talking.
Her burying her head in my chest for a cuddle.
Her love for squeaky balls.
Her love for stealing and destroying footballs.
Her madness at the sound of a nerf gun.
Her barking at the postman /delivery man / anyone at the front door.
Her freaking out at the music to Holby City.
Her carrying of trees.
Her hanging off trees and bushes.
Her mummy love for Chip.
Her love for…

Another star in the sky
The day Pops left us I picked a star in the sky through my tears to be hers.
It’s been cloudy for the past few days and her star hasn’t been seen. Tonight whilst having a ‘moment looking at a cloudy sky, they parted for one bright flickering star to shine through. Her star.
Sometimes the world has a way of bringing you comfort x

Goodbye Pops This girls story has ended. We didn't choose her but she chose us to be her family for 9 years.

Pops has had another quiet day on the sofa. She's not interested in food unless it is her humans and only then if it's a ginger biscuit... #poorlypops #terminallyilldog #staffycross #dogsofinstagram

Having a terminally ill dog is f@#$ing hard!
I love her with all my heart, but I am sobbing as I scrub my carpet to try and get rid of the huge poo stain again.
Every day for the past two weeks 6.30am finds me scrubbing because she can’t get through the night and the urge to poop is too urgent to wake us.
9pm I am scrubbing again because despite the door being open it obviously took her by surprise. And it’s fine it really is, it’s only…

Tipping the scales

It’s been 8 weeks since Poppy’ s terminal diagnosis. We have had more time than we expected and we have made the most of it. Lulled into a false sense of security, today has been a sad day and it seems we are starting the beginning of the end.
Her weight loss has been constant since April. It was only a matter of time before her thinness crossed the line. I don’t think there is an ounce of fat…

When we got Pops 9 years ago, she had been used to being carried around in a homeless chaps' rucksack and so loved being wrapped in a blanket at night for security. Tonight we are back there again, as she is not feeling herself today :( #poorlypops #terminallyilldog #dogsinblankets
