my first (official) blender blender donut
after trials and errors, which will reveal themselves below, the donut has come out quite satisfactory. but it was late 2021, looking at it from now there is obviously room for improvement.
special thanks to Blender Guru for the detailed, free-of-charge tutorial. This is the most beginner-friendly series with abundant, concise information but also levels up as we do. I can almost operate in real-time without switching back to youtube to see what's on his screen. I followed the older version tutorial, but you can follow his latest updated series here. honestly i haven't had any progress after this donut, but i am ready to pick up where i left off and brush up my *skillz*.
the first render. i forgor to add colours and textures. i opted for a retro fastfood chain look with the orange-ish red colour afterwards.
my gpu is not built for cycles rendering so i had to render the whole thing on cpu (this does eat up!). i thought this looked good at the time, can't believe it.
i tried to mould the ring for a more realistic look but it didn't come out as expected. also a change of palette since i was craving starbucks that day :). i was thinking of a starbucks-commercial/menu material. then i decided to re-model from scratch while giving proper attention to the tutorial (it can be quite distracting once you ease through the basics and become carried away with your own modelling).
struggled a little with lighting & texture at this step, thank whatever force i didn't give up.

my first experience with davinci resolve 16. took me half a month to edit & colour while the app kept crashing and eating my 16gb ram, hence the trashy edit of most frames.

attempt #4 at adobe illustrator, 29/6/20, copyright clinhvu (unluckyrapstar)
i took inspirations from many pictures like this - but better!, pinterest. with minimal color palettes and flat design approach, artists can create artworks that express solitude and serenity. humans and/or objects are alone and small compare to the vast landscape embracing them. universal and natural elements are used frequently to create this contrast.
