Another superstition: don’t trust the fields

This is something my uncle would say all the time. He loved by a huge field and strange things happened in it.

You’d see shadows and lights dancing about

Hear a voice call your name

And that doesn’t mention the odd almost fae like looking boy that couldn’t cross my uncles gate that told me and my sister as children that he lived in the field..

These are some of the things my uncle and many of my other family that lived near fields or even owned a field would say:

“ Don’t trust the fields..”

“ when the field is still something bad is about to happen “

“ if the field goes quiet run, there is something in the field with you “

“ if you see lights in the field never go towards them, they’re no good.”

“ never trust anyone that comes out of the field.. they aren’t…..it’s hard to explain but they aren’t what you think they are. “

“ if you hear someone call your name from the field do not answer just run home please.”

“ don’t look into the field at night or in the longest twilight “ 

“ there are THINGS living in the fields and if you aren’t careful they’ll take you with em”

“ if you ever feel something is off run back home, get passed the gate. You’ll be safe then.”

“ the shit in the fields is why I put jars in the yard “

“ I’d rather you not go into the field at all, I know you’ll try, I know I can’t stop you but please don’t go into the fields without me there or watching..”

I channeled my inner Remington a week ago when I went to a friend's wedding, and she told me I was finally entering my villain phase and she's here for all of it 😂😂😎

no but like. there's something so surreal about changing your hair and wearing the kind of clothes you want after a lifetime of pretending you're someone you're not and an even longer lifetime of rediscovering yourself to become the person you want to be and then finally getting to look in the mirror and going wow !!! yeah !!! that's me !!!! i want that someday and i hope everyone who doesn't feel like that yet will too soon

whenever i get intrusive thoughts i think to myself "thats not canon" and most of the time they go away. if its not canon it cant hurt me

i find the quote from princess mononoke "life is suffering. it is hard. the world is cursed. but still you find reasons to keep living." a lot more... not uplifting, exactly, but empowering - motivating - than anything about how the world is beautiful and life is a precious gift not to be wasted, etc. because the fact is that it is hard, and that's not something that should be dismissed in the name of paving positivity over the cracks without addressing the stresses that caused them in the first place. suffering is not something you have any kind of obligation to bear silently and lie to everyone, including yourself, about, nor should you be expected to. and it's hard not to wonder, especially in times like these, if maybe the world is just cursed, and feel hopeless in the face of so much suffering. but still you find reasons to keep living. the man who speaks those words in princess mononoke is a leper, ignored and outcast and abused for suffering that is neither his fault nor within his control to change, and before he says that famous line he mentions how lady eboshi, who rules the town where he lives, was the first and only person to see him as human, and show him kindness. and so he found reasons to keep living. the world may be cursed, and life may be hard, but individual acts of kindness have the power to make a difference. showing others kindness, and being shown kindness by others - those are the reasons to keep living.

They're music helped me through one of the roughest breakups I had, but I truly never realized how emotionally invested I was in them until I was in this crowd, screaming my heart out and crying while we jumped around with the boys 😭🥰
