Oh, so now we're not allowed to say Mipha's life is tragic?? It tweaks someone out? So everyone who likes her needs to shut up and cater to their whims? Um, cry me a river?

All the Champions died tragically, though Mipha's death has the addition of surviving family which is incredibly sad. People are allowed to like Mipha and even like her in a relationship with Link. If you don't like her or Miphlink, you can just block that stuff.

I feel like any time I say that I like Zelink I have to follow up with how much I also like Mipha or people assume I'm an annoying Hater. It's so embarrassing to be associated with that...

It's a fucking bird. Some people don't like the rito or Zora or other anthropomorphic fictional character races cause they don't like the ANIMAL part. Fair enough.

You're definitely some debate bro or some shit. Log. The. Fuck. Off. Your trying to equate people saying "Yeah I don't like insert fictional race here" towards actual real world hatred and bigotry.

Okay, let me explain the whole racist thing.

There are 6 main races in Hyrule (excluding the koroks): Hylian, Zora, Rito, Goron, and Sheikah. This is a watered down representation of our real world in which there are many, many different ethnicities/races.

(These 6/7 are meant to represent a larger scale in our world, is what I'm trying to say).

Now the following examples are ofc not indicative to my personal beliefs, but l'll use them for the sake of educating some people on this subject.

If I were to, relevant or not to a topic of conversation, state that "I hate (e.g.) Japanese people", that is a racist comment, right? It's telling you that I hate a particular group of people based on their biology/the fact that they are Japanese.

The defenition of racism is: the belief that some races are better than others, or the unfair treatment of someone because of their race.

This person that said that they hate Rito aren't spelling out that they think Rito are beneath the other races, but it's 'implied' (basically said atp) in the way they said that they're the 'worst' part of the botw games. So even if they don't say it outright like some people expect them to, it's still racist because it's implying that every other race is better than them, and also, hating on random characters just because they're Rito.

So if I say "I hate Japanese people, they're the worst" that's discriminatory because it's judging someone solely based on their background and not their behaviours as a person. I'm dumbing them down to one aspect of their identity while ignoring the rest of them.

Now, if I say "I hate X person", who happens to be Japanese, that's not racist. Because it's just a coincidence that they are. Meaning I hate this person for what they say/do, not because they are who they are by nature.

So, if I say, for example, "I hate Teba, he's the worst", I'm not being racist, because I'm judging him based on his personality, I'm singling him out. But if I say "I hate Teba, and all the other Rito", that's racist because, like I said, it implies that Rito are beneath everyone else, I'd essentially be holding a much higher standard for every other race in the game just because I think they're 'cooler' or 'more useful' or whatever.

Why would this even matter? It's just a game? Well, for one, races in Zelda are, yes, fictional, but they are drawn from real life, so some aspects of the Rito were not made up (not talking physically here), they were inspired by other ethnicities etc in our world, but also, if we let these comments slide in games, it gives leeway to forgive them when they ARE said to real, breathing people. Also, it's just wrong to think that way, plain and simple.

We're not trying to spread genuine hate here, why hate something just because? So maybe the person who wrote the original comment should think about the specific characters they hate and why before attributing the characteristics they don't like to a whole group of beings, because stereotyping is not something that should still be happening in mid 2025.

What one personality trait a certain Rito character may have, is not specific to the fact that they are Rito, because it can be applied to other characters. E.g. hating a Rito character for being prideful means you should hate other characters from different backgrounds for being prideful too, because it doesn't take a genius to know that these concepts are not unique to one specific group.

[I'm so sorry for bothering you with this, Mod, it's not anyone's job to educate people on these things but themselves, but I wanted to help clear some confusion on my own thought process, sorry it got so long.]

Tldr: if you shouldn’t say these things about real people, you shouldn’t say these things about fictional characters, bc among other things, it’s giving permission for really terrible people to use it as an excuse to be racist to people in their lives.

Bait use to be believable

I don’t mean to be that guy but the person who said that they hate the Rito. That’s problematic.

I mean, you wouldn’t say that about a race in real life, imagine confessing “yeah i hate X or Y people.” Would that not be considered racist? If that’s the case in real life, why is it not be applied to games? I think it’s the same principle.

Idk, it’s just very wrong in my eyes. Maybe that person ought to think harder about these things before saying them.

But on another more positive note, i love what you’re doing on this blog and i hope you continue!

What do you think miphlink would be doing after some of the missions if they had some alone time?

Unfortunately I'm sober now, so my thoughts are once again filtered, but appreciate the ask nonetheless!

Ok so before the Calamity? Since they both seem to suffer from self-appointed pressure to perform and always be perfect, I imagine downtime after missions is perfect time for them to unwind. I see them honestly just sitting down, either back to back or laying down on the grass or something, away from all the pressure. They don't need to spout endless confessions or praisings, I think they much prefer being able to indulge in peaceful moments with someone who "gets it."

During the Calamity between the Divine Beasts rescue and defeating Calamity Ganon? Probably more direct with one another. You know, nearly dying and losing each other leaves them thinking "holy shit they almost died and we haven't done all these things yet, said these things yet." So I see them doing activities to try and decompress during the war and building more memories together, trying to ignore the fact they almost died. Simple things like cooking meals for themselves and soldiers, helping wounded soldiers and trading techniques (Mipha's magic base healing versus knight medical attention) and learning from one another, repairing each other's weapons.

Post Calamity Ganon's defeat? Probably sex or something idk.

Turns out a bottle of Smirnoff fucks up my reading comprehension.

So HOW, not when.

In the Wild Timeline it's post lynel fight. While the fight itself should be easy in theory (the two already being really skilled warriors against a single lynel), there's a lot of emotional buildup. The distance and built-up awkwardness from Link's secluded nature, the mutual worry for one another, and even a little bit of annoyance. Mipha, while yes worried and wants to fight because she can, also feels a tad dismissed and possibly even diminished by Link saying he'll do it himself. Link, while understanding where she's coming from in terms of fighting for her people, also possibly feels like it's his job to defend hyrule, and doesn't want her in needless danger, hell maybe he thinks he has something to prove to her and himself, that he has to be capable of handling anything to truly justify having the Master Sword.

Regardless, tensions been building, months if not years of feelings are reaching their apex, and they're ambushed by the Lynel. Sure, they handle it, but they're off their A-games. Distracted. Sloppy. More concerned with ensuring the other is fine before they're own safety, making the fight much worse than it should've been. But regardless, they preserver.

The lynel is defeated, and while this could lead to a long heartfelt back and forth between them leading to a nice love confession and kiss, I kinda perfer the more messy approach. They're not perfect little dolls, they respond like people. All that adrenaline, worry and fear of loss, and months if not years of tension built up, it all finally breaks and instinct and desire just take over.

It's not a perfect kiss, no. Quick, desperate, probably awkward since neither seem to have much history in dating prior. Hell it's probably their first kisses in general. But still, it happens. And sure, eventually their brains turn back on and all those worries and barriers return, but it's a line crossed and now they gotta address it. Can't really ignore it anymore.

For the Calamity Timeline I have no idea. I gotta cross reference when Mipha starts making the armor in that game, and which missions happen around that time. Given the game inverts when they become Champions (Link before Mipha in BotW, Mipha before Link in AoC), there's more room for them to have a more casual buildup to a relationship compared to the Wild's more explosiveness.

What's your favourite thing to see in miphlink fic and art?

Oh god uhhhhh it doesn't take much I like a lot. Some of that happy go lucky ship art, some pain and tragedy, some shitposts, all that good shit.

But my favorite to see? I guess for art stuff that's post Calamity ajd showing them having settled down, recovered, moved on from it all ajd just thriving. For writing I actually prefer the opposite, that part where they're friends trying and failing at navigating that and their feelings lmao.

do you think miphlink keep score during monster killing adventures?

I think at first yes. But then probably some super close near death call had them stop. Like post Calamity when they're all rebuilding hyulr and like some super strong ass malice guardian or that really hard mission where you gotta just survive an onslaught.

I can see it being started around the Yiga mission, an olive branch by Mipha to get him to lossen up a little following pulling that sword. Then the blight thing happens and sours the mood so it's kinda forgotten. Then killing Ganon bring it back as a fun post Calamity thing. Only yo then have to drop it cause "Yeah I think this stupid challenge is getting us (specifically link) to do more dangerous missions to get a higher scorem"

Ph God I am not much a love song guy lowkey. Someone else will tell you dome emotional ass love song from the 50s, I'll tell you fuckin Accidentally in Love by Counting Crows, or like One Little Slip hy Barenaked Ladies, some Cheesy ass song like that lmao.

I guess a big part of them is the tragedy aspect, and rn I'm on that Witgout You song for the Shadow Generations animation, so that fits. Idk. It probably is too "Link centric" in terms of mostly sining bout his pain in losing her so if you want some balance it probably won't be for you

Probably a mix of :

Liking Mipha as a character and wanting her to habe a good ending and in part that includes being with Link given her feelings and the armor

Playing botw afer God of war 2018 and the whole "love dead wife" aspect carrying over

Probably some sort of inate emotional response regarding relationships. I do that now it seems. I'm more inclined to see "underdog " relationships be successful gives me some hope I guess
