More Local Cryptids AU!

Here's my design for Knuckles in it! He looks pretty similar to cannon tbh. His quills are a lot larger and I imagine that he is able to shoot some of the ones on his tail at enemies if he needs to. Some of his longer quills carry a venom as well. Even though he’s a walking venomous pincushion he still enjoys physical contact like hugs with his family. His family just has to figure out how to strategically dodge quills and spikes first.

Because he is a more recent arrival on Earth, he doesn’t have Sonic’s built up reputation as an urban legend. After fighting Robotnik’s mech in the second movie, videos of Knuckles and all three of them end up online. By then, their existence is an open “secret”. G.U.N. Doesn’t officially admit to the world that they’re there, but Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are not exactly hiding. So, on a technicality, Knuckles and Tails get to call themselves cryptids but aren’t stuck living alone in the woods for a decade. However, the “Reno Sightings” are still hotly debated in some online circles…

Inspired by the day 10 prompt of “Secret” from @sonic-au-august !

I wanted to try my hand at a movie screenshot redraw from when Sonic’s presence on Earth is still a secret for my Local Cryptids AU!

Basic AU premise is that mobians look a lot weirder and during his time on Earth Sonic has built up more of a reputation as a local cryptid/urban legend

Local Cryptid AU!

Tom and Maddie got lucky that the aliens they found were so cute. In this AU mobians look a lot freakier than they do in cannon.

Not too much changes plot wise between the movies and this AU. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckes still all come to Earth, they just stand out a little bit more. Sonic’s reputation as the Blue Devil and Green Hill’s local cryptid doesn’t go away and he fully embraces it. Tom and Maddie were freaked out by him at first but quickly got over it and just fully adopt their town's local urban legend/ alien kid boogeyman.

[Mostly just an excuse to play around with the fact that the characters are aliens and Sonic was a local/urban legend for 10 years.]

I'm still working on designs for the rest of the cast but they'll be up shortly! I have a lot of ideas for stuff I want to do/make for this AU!

SCU Monster AU!!!

Sonic is a werewolf/werehog, Tails is a vampire, Knuckles is a zombie, and Shadow is a sort of sea monster eldritch horror thing.

After the eclipse canon incident, the chaos emeralds did something weird and caused the characters to turn into different monsters. Their new forms reflect some kind of insecurity of each of them or forces them to confront something from their pasts. Knuckles is the only living member of an extinct tribe/feels like a dead man walking so he’s a zombie. Shadow thinks he’s a horrible gross incomprehensible space monster so he’s a sea monster thing. Sonic grew up wild and isolated in the woods and sometimes thinks that he’s no better than a feral animal so he’s a werewolf werehog. Tails’ village told him that his two tails made him cursed and dangerous to be around/his presence hurt people so he’s a vampire and has to drink blood to survive.

The basic plot is that they have to find all of the scattered chaos emeralds in hopes that they can reform the master emerald and use it to put themselves back to normal again. Each chaos emerald they find causes more changes such as Tails getting wings, Shadow getting tentacles, etc. They’re not entirely sure why the emeralds turned them into monsters but they each have their own theories…

Tom, Maddie, and Stone are doing their best to support their newly monsterized alien anthropomorphic animal kids.

I will absolutely be posting more of this on and off!! I posted a few of the Knuckles doodles earlier since they were from a Year of the Echidna prompt but figured I would include them here too!

I may add in Silver and Amy later on. Amy would be a plant monster and Silver would be a ghost but I haven’t fully decided yet
