I used to be truscum. You know, transmedicalism. I am trans, I genuinely believed that all nonbinary and non dysphoric trans people were faking being trans for attention. I argued that one required dysphoria to be considered trans. I fake claimed trans supporters of non binary people. I made claims that because they weren't suffering like I was, they were making a mockery of what I was experiencing.

I asked the question: Why would anyone who wasnt dysphoric go through this unless for attention? I accused them of stealing resources from 'legitimately' trans people. I accused them of being transphobic. Of wearing my identity as a costume to feel special. I had stories of a single individual nonbinary person who hurt me that I used to paint all nonbinary people as predatory. I accused happy trans people of faking because how could they like how they look and find joy and whimsy in what was to me nothing but suffering and pain.

I was blatently wrong about ALL of this. So when I say that anti-endos are the same as transmeds, this is where Im coming from. The arguments are EXACTLY the same ones I was making to excuse my own bigotry towards a group of people I didn't understand: nonbinary and non dysphoric trans people. I have yet to see a single anti-endo stance that doesnt have a direct parallel to the bigoted stuff i used to say when I was sipping the truscum koolaid.

Many of my abusers were men. I don't hate men or want men to not exist.

Many of my abusers were fat. I don't hate fat people or want fat people not to exist.

Many of my abusers were part of my nuclear family, including my stepmom. I don't hate traditional families or stepparents or think they shouldn't exist.

Please learn that your abuse history containing certain categories of people doesn't make those whole categories of people inherently evil.

Name and find me at least one person who is anti-ship and didn't have an evangelical or puritanical upbringing throughout most their life and then come talk to me about why you have that rhetoric in the first place.

Every. Single. Person. Who I've met that held anti-ship rhetoric had an evangelical upbringing of some sort. Weather that be some branch of Christianity, Catholic, at times Islam and whatever cults that exist such as Jehovahs Witnesses and Mormonism.

Not once have I met an anti-ship person who wasn't brought up in one of those religions or cults I've listed above. I'm just saying that anti-ship/purist rhetoric comes from *somewhere*, and the reoccurring patterns with these people's backgrounds surrounding their beliefs just keep confirming my suspicions.

For the sake of my peace of mind, I refuse to believe that words have power as much as people think or say they do. Not all thoughts are equal and neither are words.

The only thing that's important is what kind of actions are pursued. There's already the saying of "talking a whole lot of nothing" that exists. So why not apply that to people who say the most nasty bigoted shit or insults yet tuck their tail away and hide behind a screen or only scamper way to go home and get away from retail workers.

They aren't people in political power, and even then, free will is not always equally applicable to everyone. Stop putting power and potential in people's words where there is none.
