It was my first thought actually—I'm surprised that it's not the other's first as well.

It's clear that Lucifer placed some boundaries and distanced himself and at first he was just gloating how he could help Charlie more than Alastor cuz come on he's the fucking king.

Then something snapped when Alastor mentioned "it's a little funny, you could almost call me DAD" to which triggered shit to him cuz who tf is he to tell that to HIS ONE AND ONY CHILD?!

Then, when Alastor let out some steam by killing the loan shark and his goons, he was proud because he just proved shit that no matter what, sinners would be sinners. But Charlie snapped that how could he not support her but Alastor, a fucking overlord that kills for fun and joined the hotel for fun and her suffering, can?

Then there you go, Lucifer's walls crumbled, a fancy song followed that brought tears to my eyes because I have issues. Now, he supports her because he's willing to sacrifice anything for her and now season 2, fuck more daughter-father dynamics will be seen.

So yeah, I think that Alastor knows what he is doing :DD

Triggering the short king makes Charlie fix her daddy issues with Lucifer

what if, and maybe that's a far stretch, but what if alastor picked a fight because he thought that would make lucifer show charlie how much he cared for her

let's be straight, there's no fucking reason for alastor to start a bickering with lucifer KING OF HELL. we know that alastor has a talent to realise someone's weakness and use that against them, so ofc he quickly noticed that charlie and lucifer had some unresolved family problems, he also knew that they needed lucifer by their side so charlie's plan could work.

so maybe if he could make lucifer believe that he stole his place as charlie's father figure, that would push lucifer to his limit, thus forcing him to show how much he cares and loves charlie. this way charlie would finally know that her father cares, that maybe they just need to have heart to heart conversation.

maybe that's just me imagining things, but i dunno it kinda makes more sense than alastor being a little prick with the king of hell just for pure fun. yes, i know it could be because lucifer didn't give a flying fuck about him and didn't even know who he is, but i prefer to think that alastor had a more reasonable thought behind it.
