The cinquedea is a civilian short sword (or long dagger). It was developed in northern Italy and enjoyed a period of popularity during the Italian renaissance of the 15th and early 16th centuries.
The cinquedea got its name because of its characteristic wide blade, about five fingers wide (cinque diti).
It dates back to about 1500.Material: steel, gold, copper alloys, horn, brass.
Dimensions: Length 23 inches (58.42 cm); Weight 2 pounds (907 g).
The scenes on both sides of this blade represent episodes from the ancient Roman myth of Diana and Actaeon.
