I think a big part of why I read way more fanfiction than books is that there’s just a hell of a lot less exposition

the first 10 pages of most books are always “these are the main characters and here’s some background on each of them and this is the setting etc etc” and it’s such a fucking hassle getting to the plot sometimes

fanfic is just like “fuck it you know all of this already let’s go”

Last Hurrah!

Acceptance is something everyone wants. To be fully accepted as who you are is the greatest gift one can receive.

Pride month is coming to an end. This is a late tribute in celebration of the month where the third genders are celebrated.

 She was nervous. She does not think she can do this.

Her mental plan has gone to shambles.

She wonders where all her courage went. Where all her internal prep talk went.

She can not do this. She’s scared out of her wits.

But she has to.

The moment she stepped into the room, she knew she cannot turn back anymore.

She takes a deep breath. She can do this.

She’s scared.

She starts talking. They stare at her. All the words she seems to have forgotten has returned full force. She talks and talks and talks. She can’t stop anymore.

She pauses. She looks at them. Hopeful. She continues.

By the time she finished, there are set streaks on her cheeks. She wills them to stop, hastily wipes them on her sleeve.

She refuses to look at them, scared of what she might find.

Disappointment? Anger? Disgust?

She looks up.

She doesn’t see any of that. Instead, she sees smiles.

They hug her. Tells her it’s okay. That everything will be fine. She hugs back.

She feels wetness on her cheeks once more. This time, she doesn’t stop it.

She lets it all out. As if a dam finally broke.

All the emotions she’s been trying to bottle up has broken free.

Pain, fear, doubt, joy, but most of all, relief.

They accepted her. Nothing else matters.
